Physical Inventory Worksheet

There is a bug in the 2023 QB desktop Premier Plus Mfg in the Physical Inventory Worksheet. The report looks fine on the screen. I can add and delete columns and it still looks fine. However, when I print to paper or pdf, the report is messed up. It appears to be related to text being wider than columns, over which I have no control. I have tried turning the paper to landscape, removing columns to make room for the remaining columns to be wider. Nothing works. I have a screenshot of the report and a printed pdf, but prefer not to post them publicly. I emailed support but I can't attach files there and I haven't heard back from anyone.

Physical Inventory Worksheet

Hi there, @CMB7

Thanks for all the details of your concern. Great job with the troubleshooting steps you've taken so far.

I wanted to ask if you have tried using our PDF & Print repair tool yet? If not, let's give it a shot. Our tool is designed to scan and fix any issues that can happen with PDFs and Printing with QuickBooks Desktop. I've included some steps you can use to run the tool below.

First, you'll need to download and install our QuickBooks Tool Hub

Once the Tool Hub has finished installing, it's time to run the repair. Here's how:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, choose Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take about a minute to run.
  3. Print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

That should do the trick. However, if you continue to have issues, you can use the additional troubleshooting steps in Fix PDF and Print problems in QuickBooks Desktop

Please let me know how it goes. I'm only a reply away should you have further questions or concerns. Take care!

I have Windows 11, and the Tool Hub is for Windows 10 only. Also, this feature worked fine until I updated to 2023.

I understand that we recommend using Tool Hub on Windows 10 for the best experience, @CMB7. I've got another workaround for you so you can print the Physical Inventory Worksheet report.

There's an in-progress report about running physical inventory reports that print with errors due to broken report formatting. With this, I recommend contacting our Support Team. This way, you'll be notified of the progress and receive updates when fixes are available.

Here's how:

  1. Within your QuickBooks Company file, select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help panel.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue.
  4. Click Continue.

Don't worry, you can still pull the report by following these steps:

  1. Run the inventory report and select Customize Report.
  2. Remove all columns except description, then press Enter.
  3. Review the item and click Enter.
  4. Add all columns back, check the left margin, description, Quantity on hand, vendor, and physical count, then hit Enter.

See this article to learn more about personalizing reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

In case you'll want to save your current settings, you'll want to save this guide for future use: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Please let me know how the steps go. I'm always around here in the Community if you have follow-up questions about running reports. Stay safe.

Leaving this here for future customers searching for an answer. I contacted support as directed above. This is a known issue that is not yet resolved. I'm not sure why none of the QB team members responding here knew this. This problem started with my 2023 update, and it's now March, and it hasn't been resolved yet. Hopefully it will be before the end of the year. Do better, QB.

Physical Inventory Worksheet

I am having an issue with printing the Physical Inventory Worksheet.  It looks fine on the screen but when it prints out the columns are all out of alignment.  It looks as if the columns are not wide enough to accommodate the words but I have tried everything and even called QB support and spent hours on the phone and no one has been able to help me get it to print correctly.

I wish you didn't have to go through all these hurdles when working with inventory reports, awildes.

As per checking, we've received volumes of users reporting the same issues when printing Physical Inventory Worksheets with incorrect printing alignments. Please know that our engineers are already aware of this concern and are implementing measures to provide a resolution and help keep you going when working on your QuickBooks tasks.

With this, you may consider following the workaround steps shared by my colleague, JamaicaA, above. Also, you can export this report to an Excel file and modify their columns to ensure the column alignments are accurate.

If this unusual behavior persists, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support team to have your account information added to the list of affected users. This way, you'll receive updates regarding the status of the investigation and ensure you'll get back to business seamlessly.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click QuickBooks Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Provide a brief description of your concern, and click Continue.
  4. Log in to your Intuit account, select Continue, then Continue with my account.
  5. Enter the single-use code you received in your email and hit Continue.
  6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.
