Join nowHello,
I am trying to create a P&L Report by Customer, however all of the parent customers are showing up on the report and I am hoping to only show the sub-customers. I try to customize the report and only select the checkbox next to the sub customers, but the parent customers of the selected sub-customer is still showing on the report with $0.00. How do I remove all of the parents of the sub-customer from the report? Thank you for your help.
Edit: I see that the title may have been confusing. What I want to do is to show only the selected sub customers, and not the parent customers with them.
Hi @Screechez,
Thank you for sharing such a detailed explanation of what you've done so far.
For QuickBooks Online, running the Profit and Loss by Customer report will always show the parent customer of your selected sub-customers, regardless if the parent customer was checked as well, or not.
What I can suggest is to export the customized report to Excel. This way, you can remove the column for the parent customer and only leave the sub-customers.
You can take a look at this article and see a short video to learn how to filter your reports: How to Filter Reports: Customers, Vendors, & Products.
Feel free to leave a comment below in case you have additional queries. I'll be sure to get back to you.
Is this still the case, @Ryan_M ? That a profit & loss by customer cannot be customized to show just the sub-customer but not the parent?
I want to do the same thing as @Screechez , run the P&L by sub-customer only, and am wondering if this functionality is now available in QBO?
Hello there, RashmiS.
Please know that running and customizing a Profit and Loss by Customer report to show only sub-customers rather than the parent one is still unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I'll ensure you can send feedback so your suggestion is forwarded to the Product Development Team.
I recommend submitting feedback about having the ability to pull up and personalize the mentioned report by sub-customer. This recommendation is sent to our engineer for consideration in future updates.
Here's how:
For now, you consider following the recommended workaround above about exporting the customized report to Excel. This is done so you may remove the column for the parent customer and only leave the sub-customers.
In case you need steps on how to print and email different reports within the program, you can read this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
