What effect on profit & loss bottom line is there by not attaching unbilled costs to customer invoice?

Billable expenses that have not been billed to your customer have no impact on your P&L.  Those costs hit your P&L when you enter or pay the bill (accrual vs. cash).  Marking them as billable is a non-posting transaction that just enables QB to notify you to bill your customer for those costs.
