Is there a report or can someone help me create a custom report to show profit percentage for each line item sold? I want a report that shows the inventory item, sales price, cost of goods, customer name, invoice # and the profit percentage for each line item. I have attached the Sales Vs Cost Report I have created in QB but I need to show the percent Profit. Thanks.

I have many items that I sell for over the 100% profit margin. When I run the report it does not go beyond the 100%. Is there a way to run a report that tells me what is selling at 110 to 200% profit?
Hello @marg1,
In QuickBooks, the reports only show a profit margin of 100%. Let me discuss this further.
The % of Sales column on reports only show a maximum of 100% per item. This is based on the calculation of QuickBooks by dividing your gross profit by your sales. Then multiply it by 100.
In addition, you can still pull up your sales reports to view the % of Sales for your items. You can also pull up the Inventory valuation Summary report.
For further information, you can refer to this article: Small Business: How-To Calculate a Gross Profit Margin.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'll only be a post away.
They also requested this report to be with customer name... I do not see this as part of the solution... the report requested remains unresolved.... am I missing something?
Hi there, @collinsm246.
Thanks for joining this thread. I want to make sure you're able to pull the report with the customer's name will appear.
You can run the Sales by Item Summary report in QuickBooks Desktop instead of the Inventory Evaluation Summary to show the % of Sales, customer's name, Gross Margin %, and many more columns.
Here's how:
3. Click Customize Report located on the upper left side.
4. Hit the Filters tab and enter Name in the search box.
5. Click the Name drop-down and pick All customer/job.
6. Tap OK.
7. Select Customer: Job in the Show Columns drop-down located on the upper right.
For the detailed steps about customizing and other related topics, please check out this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can always export, email, and print different reports in QBDT by going to the Reports menu. See the screenshot below.

I'd like to further view margin based on the vendor, not just item. I haven't been able to customize this report to sort by vendor. Is this possible?
Hello there, @pacificposition.
Yes, it's possible. Just pull up the Expenses by Vendor Summary report. This will show the company's total purchases per vendor. Let me guide you how:

I don't believe that shows the gross margin for the sold products, only what it cost me to purchase. The thread is for profit percentage for inventory items, or margin on the items, not just the cost. Will your suggestion give me cost, price, and margin percentage?

In QuickBooks Desktop, we can run the Sales by Item Summary to show the Gross Margin % and Inventory Evaluation Summary to show the cost and price of the item. Then, you can export the report to Excel to combine the columns into one report.
To run the Sales by Item Summary report, follow the steps below:
Click Customize Report located on the upper left side.
Hit the Filters tab and enter Name in the search box.
Click the Name drop-down and pick All customer/job.
Tap OK.
Select Customer: Job in the Show Columns drop-down located on the upper right.
Press OK.
Then, pull up the Inventory Evaluation Summary by performing the steps below:
Once done, tick the Excel drop-down and choose Create New Worksheet to export the report. From there, you can customize to combine the two reports to come up with the cost, price, and margin percentage. For more details about modifying reports, see the Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop article for more details.
