Purchase Order Report

Hi @talk2khurram , thank you for joining QB community.

You'll need to pull up 2 reports so you can compare the transactions and balances. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab.
  2. Choose Custom Reports.
  3. Select Transaction Detail.
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. In the Display tab, update the report date.
  6. On the same page, click Paid from the Columns section.
  7. Go to the Filters tab.
  8. In the Filter section, click Posting Status then select Either from the options.
  9. Click Transaction Type from the Filters, and choose Purchase Order from the Transaction Type drop-down.
  10. Click OK.
  11. In the Total By drop-down, select vendor.

This report will show the PO's received or billed. To view open PO's, you can use the Open Purchase Orders by Job. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Reports tab.
  2. Click Purchases.
  3. Choose Open Purchase Orders by Job.
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. Go to the Display tab.
  6. In the Columns section, click Debit and Credit.
  7. Click OK.

Purchase Order Report

Regarding Step 6 in your post........In the Display Tab:  determining what columns I want to display......that seems to be a preset list.  My purchase order is customized to display a "Job Name" along with "Expected" and "Ship Via".  Can I customize the Columns to select from to display my Job Name?

Purchase Order Report

Thanks for joining the thread, @HGM.

I understand the importance of being able to customize a purchase order report in QuickBooks.

Currently, there's no option to add a Job Name on the Purchase Order by Jobs report. You can manually open the PO instead to check the job name associated with it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu.
  2. Select Vendor Center.
  3. Locate and open the vendor name the PO is associated with.
  4. Double click the PO you want to review the job name with.

I'm adding these photos for your convenience:

Furthermore, you can export the report in QuickBooks Desktop. This will help you access all information from the PO.

Check out this article also to know more about how to handle POs in QBDT: Manage purchase orders in QuickBooks Desktop.

It's my pleasure to always help if you have other questions with QuickBooks or PO. Just feel free to comment back to this thread. Take the best care!
