Purchase Price Variant Reports

Is there a report that can show the PPV summary? I want to see a summary of everything I purchased, what the cost per item is listed at and what I actually paid for it.

EXAMPLE -- So in the product setup I have part number A1234 and I set it up to cost $1 per each, but I got a great deal and only paid $.89 per each. I need to be able to report that difference somehow.

Purchase Price Variant Reports

Unfortunately, this type of report is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. As of the moment, the vendor/purchase-related reports in the program will only show how much of each item or service your company has purchased in both quantity and dollar amount.

As a workaround, you'll want to consider exporting the Purchases by Item Detail report to an Excel file. This way, you'll be able to further customize it and compute the variance of your purchases. I'll guide you how:

  1. Select Reports from the top menu bar.
  2. Head to the Purchases section.
  3. Select Purchases by Item Detail.
  4. Click the Customize button, then set the appropriate reporting date.
  5. From the Display tab, select Discount Available from the Columns menu.
  6. Hit OK to apply the filters.
  7. Click the Excel icon, then choose Create New Worksheet.

Additionally, I recommend reading the articles below to help you speed up the reporting process in QuickBooks Desktop:
