QB Online How can I print my Chart of Accounts with the sub-accounts indented?

I know what's happening here, swhcc.

When you're in the Chart of Accounts page, you clicked Run Report button and printed the list as a report. This is why the sub-accounts are not indented when you print the report.

Instead, we can print the list directly in the Chart of Accounts page. Here's how to do it:

  1. Select Accounting on the left menu and go to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Click the Print option (printer icon) above the ACTION column.
  3. Click Print after setting the correct Destination, Pages, Copies ,and Layout.

You'll see that the list has indention for the sub-accounts. From there, you can also save a PDF copy of the list.

We'll be right here if you have additional queries about the steps I've provided.

Thank you for joining us here in the Community, @JBryant2.

I'll walk you through printing your Chart of Accounts with indented subaccounts.

First, you should sort the list of your accounts according to their names so you can print it with indented sub-accounts.

Follow these steps:

  1. From the left menu, choose Bookkeeping.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Double-click the NAME column.
  4. Click the Print list icon.

Additionally, you can remove or make the unused accounts inactive. This way, they will not be included when you print the list.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do with the Chart of Accounts. Wishing you and your business continued success in all that you do.

How do I get the action column on the far right and the far left checkbox to NOT print?

Allow me to join you here and answer your question about print the Chart of Accounts, bray-wlgbc-com.

The entire page will be printed if you're doing it directly from your Chart of Accounts. Because of this, we're unable to remove the checkbox and Action columns.

Customer suggestions to help us improve the experience when using the program. I suggest sending feedback about this to our product development team. Let me share these steps on how you can send them in QBO.

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the upper-right-hand corner and choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your suggestions and product feedback about removing those columns when printing the chart of accounts.
  3. Click Next to submit them.

As an alternative, you'll want to print the Account List report. It's basically similar to printing the Chart of Accounts without the checkbox and Actions column. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Account List under the For my accountant section.
  2. Click the Printer button in the upper-right hand corner.

Keep me posted if you're able to print the list or your Chart of Accounts. I'd be glad to help if you need it again.

My original question was how to print the Chart of Accounts with subaccounts indented. So, you are telling me there is no way to do this unless I want to have those columns included??

Thanks for the prompt reply, @bray-wlgbc-com.

Yes, you’re right. For now, the option to print the Chart of Accounts with its sub-accounts indented is unavailable. Nonetheless, you may want to follow the steps provided by my peer above, JenoP on submitting feedback to our product engineers. This way, they can review this option and might be included in future updates.

Also, my colleague JenoP is correct about printing the Account List report instead of the Chart of Accounts. That way, you can customize the report to eliminate the Actions column when printed.

Should you have more concerns about printing your chart of accounts, please don’t hesitate to add a reply to post them here. Stay safe!
