QB Trying to Force People Online

I am a bookkeeper with multiple companies on QB Desktop for over 20 years.  Quickbooks trying to force everyone into their online platform when they have not brought the online platform up to standards is absurd.  I have researched QB Online various times through the years, and every time I still see the same complaints about it not having the features and capabilities of desktop, and what features it does have you are paying nickle and dime for each one.

This year I couldn't even renew desktop without calling on the phone.  Now the notice they will be selling no new desktop subscriptions. (Yes, you can still renew - for now.) Not to mention every single time I call customer service with a problem, they skip right over my problem and try to convince me to change platforms.  Why would I change platforms when your customer service is horrific and your online platform has never been up to standards?

I have spent my whole career working with QB.  I will switch EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY COMPANIES to a new platform before being forced into something that is not as usable or efficient just because it's Quickbooks.

RE: Quickbooks trying to force everyone into their online platform when they have not brought the online platform up to standards is absurd.

Well put!

It used to be that Intuit excused the pathetic functionally of QuickBooks Online by stating that it was intended only for the smallest of business with very few needs.

Then, after discovering how much money they could make but without actually enhancing QuickBooks Online to be somewhere close to QuickBooks Desktop, they started claiming that QuickBooks Online is suitable for everyone - except QuickBooks Enterprise users.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.

And who wants to keep their books using a browser, anyway? Lame.

I appreciate your comment and clearly you are a sincere and helpful employee. That has just not been my usual customer service experience over the last 20 years with 4 different company accounts. Thanks for taking the time to respond though.

@coloradoperkins

Now the notice they will be selling no new desktop subscriptions.

You can still purchase a new QB Desktop 2024 Enterprise license after July 2024. If you don't need to use any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), we can share a cheaper option to consider.

I ditto your comments.  I have 25 years of Quickbooks use.  I have multiple small businesses I run out of Quickbooks and I assist/do books for various non profit organizations, teen baseball, rural fire, go kart assoc.  I tried using Quickbooks online for 9 months with one of these organization, as I saw the advantage of being able to work remotely.  As I stated we changed them back to desktop.  Quickbooks online is designed for the consumer and maybe a small business that has very little to no experience with accounting.  I run a service business and we interact with 100's of clients.  They all use SAGE or Quickbooks.  Not 1, again not 1 of these companies likes or uses the online version.  It seems to me that this announcement and decsion ignores the professional opinion of the people and businesses who use and made Quickbooks into the successful software it is.  It appears soft corners and visual graphics is more important than feedback on how the actual software functions.

I do rural fire also! : ) Divide Fire in Divide, Colorado.   And then larger companies with multiple locations/departments.  So a variety!  What do you think of SAGE?  I've been looking at that as an option if QB discontinues desktop altogether.  I agree they are not listening to any customer input.  No one that has switched from desktop to online has been happy with the change.
