Quickbooks online - I need to set my default date to current day date so when I print checks it has the current date.

QuickBooks automatically uses the date of your last check transaction created. You'll want to set up the Payment date field to the current one. This way, it defaults back every time you create a check. Let me guide you with the steps.

1. Click + New.
2. Select Check.
3. Fill in the necessary information such as the Payee, bank account, category details.
4. Make sure to set the current date under the Payment date field.
   
5. Click Print check.
6. Click Preview and Print.

For future reference, you can run reports in QuickBooks Online to show the expenses you've paid. Run Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Not really, If I change the date for some reason and close and go back in QB online needs to put today’s date as default. Desk top can be configured to always put today's date and can be modified if necessary

At this time, QuickBooks Online (QBO) will always default the date of any transaction to be that which was most recently entered. 

For the situation, if you were to write a check and manually set the date to 06/01/2020, once you've saved and closed that invoice, you'll see that date will automatically be set the next time you go to create one.

You'll need to manually set the todays' date to make QBO pre-fill a transaction that way once. This way, every transaction thereafter will do so automatically (until you edit it again).

I can see how useful it is for you and your business to default today's date when creating transactions. But what I stated is how QBO works.
