Quickbooks program not clearing items correctly.

I have been catching up on my bookkeeping this weekend and have been reconciling bank accounts.  I have done about 7 months on my main checking account when the program started acting up.  I cleared my deposits with no problems.  When I switched to the checks side, when I click to clear a check, it will clear it and another item not near by, and move them to the bottom of the list.  After working with it, I had cleared the items that should not have been cleared, when I tried again only the correct item was cleared but it still moves it to the bottom of the list.

I have run verify and rebuild and neither process found anything wrong.  I do not get any errors.

Has any one had this happen to them?  What should I do?

I am using the Desktop Pro 2020 and it is up to date.

Quickbooks program not clearing items correctly.

Hello there, @VickiL. Now that I'm here, I'll ensure you can get through this so you can finish reconciling your accounts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

First, I'd like to take the time and appreciate the effort you've put into this. Since you've already performed verify and rebuild data and still the issue persists, you can proceed to use QuickBooks Tool Hub to get this sorted out. QuickBooks Tool Hub is where you can get the tools we have to help fix QuickBooks Company file issues. To begin, here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. We recommend you download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). A gentle remind, If you've already installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be displayed on the bottom right or you can select About to view the version.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

If you can't find the icon, try searching for it in the Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub, and then click the App.

See this article for further guidelines: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

In addition, here's an article to help you in case you encounter issues when reconciling an account in QBDT: Fix issues when you're reconciling in QuickBooks Desktop.

@VickiL, know that we value your time and that you can always get back to me if you need further assistance with this. Also, our door is open 24/7 if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. Thanks for dropping by. Take care, and have a good one!

OK I ran both the Fix my file and the File Doctor.  Both came back with no problems found.

I went back into QBs to the reconcilation and problem still exists.

What are my next steps?

The QB Hub is telling me "If you still can't open your company file, submit a support ticket for exper help. or restore from a backup"

Thanks

I also ran the Program Diagnostic Tool.  It did repair the MSXML, but it still did not fix the problem.

I appreciate you getting back to us, VickiL.

Since none of the steps fix the problem, I suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They have the tools to open your account securely and investigate this further.

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk, and then choose a way to connect.

I'm also adding these resources about the reconciliation process and how to fix issues when reconciling accounts for additional guide:
