Quickbooks Statement Writer

Why is Quickbooks Statement Writer 2020 telling me it can only open ISW 2009 files? It will only allow me to Search for and choose QSM files when I browse to find my previously created reports. Once I try to open that file, I then get the above message. HELP!

Quickbooks Statement Writer

I can share some insights on how to resolve this QuickBooks Statement Writer error, @Ashleyk33,

There are a few reasons why this alert pops-up. Check out the scenarios below:

  • The system detects another version of QuickBooks on the same computer.
  • QuickBooks software or the Statement Writer is not updated.
  • Windows restrictions.
  • Office or Excel is no longer supported or compatible.

To get this fixed, other users have tried turning off the automatic updates for the other QuickBooks versions installed aside from 2020. This way its background processes will not interfere with the working file.
