Can I add a custom field to time entry in QBO

Hello there, mvanhaltern.

I want to ensure that your issue with importing custom fields gets resolved in no time. That said, can you share with me the specific error message you encountered? I'd also appreciate it if you could provide a screenshot.

I'll keep an eye out for you response.

Can I add a custom field to time entry in QBO

I would like to do this too. My employees need to easily clock in for travel start and end times and then "transfer" to session start time. I want to add 2 additional clock in and out fields in QB Time. Can I do this and how?

Can I add a custom field to time entry in QBO

I appreciate your interest in adding a custom field so your employee can clock in seamlessly, @Fishgirl0212

Please know that custom fields in QBO are different in QB Time. We can create a job if you're referring to the clock in and out in QB Time. This way, it will add another field on the Time Clock window. I'll show you how:

  1. Select Jobs at the left panel.
  2. Tap the Add button and then choose Job.
  3. Enter the necessary information, then click Save.

Here are some screenshots for visual reference:

See this article to learn more about fields: Set up and manage custom fields in QuickBooks Time.

Since the fields in Timesheet won't sync in QBO, we can use classes when transferring the time. This tracking system will allow you to work efficiently. Just make sure to enable the feature first.

Next, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Payroll settings.
  2. Locate the Accounting section, then click the Pencil icon.
  3. On the Class tracking section, tick which one you'd like to use.
  4. Map the classes for each employee, then hit Save

Can I add a custom field to time entry in QBO

Hi,

I want to use the Department field in QB Time. However, when I specify that, I get the following error when I sync to QBO

XXX XXXXX: Dec 4: NOTICE: 2.00 hour timesheet had a Department Item (ID: 5242030, Name: Overhead) that can't be exported to QuickBooks because it was created on QuickBooks Time rather than being created in QuickBooks and sync'd. The hours will still show up in QuickBooks, but they will not have a Department.

This shows up in the sync log for every time entry.

I have not found any way to add the field in QBO.

I appreciate your time in reaching out to us. Allow me to share details of why you're getting an error when syncing information to QBO, mvanhaltern.

With QuickBooks Time, you can create custom fields on timesheets to track additional details like mileage, equipment, and tasks.

However, please note that QuickBooks Time does not currently support syncing custom fields to QuickBooks Online. This is the reason why you're getting the error when syncing the data in QBO.

Let me also share these help articles for additional guidance and resources when using QuickBooks Time and QBO to track working hours:
