Darn. Thanks.

This is ridiculous and one of several reasons I'm considering leaving QB for my invoicing.
It is very, very common to have to re-order items on an invoice. Making us have to basically delete the entire thing and start over is very inconvenient. It's surprising that a major product from a global player like Intuit would lack this basic capability.
I am looking at switching to Blinkbid for my invoicing system again mostly because of this issue.
Re-ordering invoice line items is one of the most basic functionalities I can think of for an invoicing system. This is one of several reasons I am looking at moving away from QB for my invoicing.
Forcing your users to basically delete everything and start over, just to insert a new line item somewhere in the invoice in the appropriate spot, is massively inconvenient and a waste of time.
I have tested out other invoicing systems from players big and small and ALL of them allow you to reorder items. Literally all of them.
Please reconsider this choice as I've had to completely delete and start over invoices multiple times because of this one issue. Some of my invoices have as many as 30-40 line items, and I hate being forced to choose between starting over or just inserting the new line item out-of-order at the tail end of the existing invoice.
Your feedback is valuable to us, Jrobin55, as it helps us improve our systems and services for a better experience while using QuickBooks Online.
I recognize the convenience of the feature you need within our system, especially considering the numerous line items you have to input within the invoice.
Please know that there are specific default features designed within the invoice in QBO, and the only way to re-order the line items is by deleting and re-entering them, as mentioned by my colleague above.
With that, I suggest sending feedback to our product developer. This way, they'll see your recommendation and consider counting it in the subsequent schedule update.
Follow the steps below:
Our Product Development team receives your statements (QBO) through the feature request link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
Additionally, for more information, there are two ways to display your QuickBooks preferences. See this article for your guide: Switch between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online.
If you have any further concerns or questions regarding the sales transaction display or any other aspect of QuickBooks, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to assist you.
Is there not currently an option for QB desktop? If there's 100 line items and I need to bill on item 98, all that space is misused and will print off on the invoice. I want to move it up, so they can see it at the top. When I copy and repaste at the top, it loses the PO that was attached to it and I can't attach a PO number to only that line item. Help!
Thanks for laying down your concern, SSIndy. Reordering line items on an invoice can significantly enhance the clarity and organization of your sales form. I'll share details about the availability of this functionality in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
At this time, the actions you can perform are cut, copy, paste, insert, and delete. The ability to reorder the lines is currently unavailable. I suggest sending your suggestion about this functionality to our product engineers. This plays a pivotal role in shaping our services and improving our processes to better align with your needs and preferences. Here's how:
Additionally, if you misplace the Purchase Order number at the top, you can manually retrieve your PO and then copy and paste it onto your invoice, as only one can be attached.
Thank you for your invaluable feedback, SSIndy. We look forward to incorporating your insights into our ongoing efforts to enhance our products and exceed your expectations.
