Let me help and provide some information on how to create statements for your customer.
The parent customer’s name will show up beside the sub-customer in the To section of the transaction. Since the entry is per client, the data that will show up is only for the one you’re working on.
When you email the statement, make sure to enter the correct email address. This is to ensure the right client will receive it.
Here’s how to create a statement:

Doesn't seem to work for me. I followed all those steps (which I had done before) for a client that had an outstanding balance showing on the list. I chose Open Item as the kind of statement (though I tried others too) and got a balance of $0.00 at the top right corner and a message that said:
Can't create all statements
1 of1 customers have no statements for this date. Adjust this date or click Save to create statements for the other 0. To see customers for whom statements are not generated, update the filter above the grid.
A sub-customer is being billed with its parent customer. You need to create a statement for the parent customer.
<end of QBO message>
And therein is the rub. Because what I NEED to do is to create separate statements for each sub-customer, not a statement for the parent customer. It looks to me like it's not possible with the message above, though the steps taken look like this should produce the desired outcome. Again - the outcome I need (and this works fine in QB Desktop) is one statement per sub-customer. We work with companies that have many contacts (i.e. sub-customers) and it's not appropriate or desirable to send one to the parent customer (i.e. client company). In fact, we don't even necessarily have a central point of contact to whom to send such a statement.
Just replied, but here's the picture:
Thanks for your prompt reply, Bea5.
I'd like to share a way on how you can print the statement for a specific customer.
I agree that creating a statement for a sub-customer is unavailable when it is set to Bill by parent. However, you have the option to change it by following these steps:
Once done, you can create the statement.
Here's how:
Here's also a screenshot to see what the statement would look like:
After printing or saving the statement for John Doe, you can change it back to Bill with parent by following the steps above.

Thanks for the info. I was hopeful, but after the steps 1 and 2, I got this message:
I cannot do what the system is asking me to do. We're talking about hundreds, probably thousands of transactions.
It looks like I'm out of luck.
We do the same thing and just found that the when we put a comma between the parent customer and the sub-customer it will not allow us to bill the sub-customer but once comma was removed it billed just the sub-customer. I hope that works for you!
