Customizing an invoice in QuickBooks Self-Employed is unavailable. However, when you send the invoice to your customer, it'll be attached as a PDF file.
You can also preview the invoice before sending it, so you'll see what it looks like. Otherwise, try to send it to your email address.

I’m having issues with my invoices not sending in pdf form or with any pdf even attached. Is there something I can do.

As of the moment, there an option to send an invoice with a PDF copy attached to it.
In the meantime, you wan wanted to consider exporting your invoice so you can save a PDF copy of it. To do so:
