@andrese90

You can't bulk delete products/services items in QBO. You can import and overwrite the existing name items with new prices and other changes if you need.

Delete all my products

Greetings andrese90!

I can provide you with the information about deleting products in QuickBooks Online.

The option to do a batch delete for the product items in QBO is currently unavailable. Your only option is to use the Batch actions feature to deactivate the products in the Products and Services list.

Here's how you can do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click on Products and Services.
  3. Mark the items you'd like to deactivate.
  4. Click the Batch actions drop-down.
  5. Select Make inactive.
  6. Click Yes.

I can see how beneficial this option can be for you and your business' success so I'd encourage you to send a product suggestion to our developers. They are the ones who consider our customer's feedback for QuickBooks enhancements.

Here's how you can send your request:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback and suggestions.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Feedback for the Category.
  6. Click Send message.

That should do it, andrese90. You can also track your product suggestion through this link: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to get in touch with the Community forum for all your QuickBooks concerns. All the best for your business!

Why cant you just delete products? this is the worst, plus you can't add the SKU to the PO, again, very limited in use!

Delete all my products

Hello there, @csera420

We're unable to completely delete products because we always make sure your financial and inventory reports will remain accurate. The recommended method is to make them inactive as the steps outlined by my peer above. Rest assured I'll take note of your suggestion so I can submit it directly to our engineers. This helps improve your experience in using the program. I'd suggest checking out our blog posts to learn more about our product innovations.

To completely remove the transactions that are associated with a specific product, you'll have to open them one at a time. Then, manually delete each transaction. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to Sales from the left menu.
  2. Select Products and Services
  3. In the Search box, enter the product name.
  4. Click Run report in the Edit drop-down menu in the Action column.
  5. Manually open each transaction.
  6. Select More at the bottom of the transaction screen.
  7. Click Delete.
  8. Choose Yes to confirm.

You can repeat the process above for other transactions. For more details, go through this article: Void or Delete Transactions. You can watch this video tutorial to help you track what you've sold using the program.

For your second concern, you can set up a custom field so you can add the SKU to the PO. I'll guide you through the steps.

  1. Go to the Gear ⚙ icon at the upper right.
  2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Go to Expenses from the left menu.
  4. Choose Purchase orders
  5. In the Custom fields section, enter SKU and check the box beside the field.
  6. Click Save
  7. Choose Done.

The screenshot below shows you the last five steps.

AddCustomFieldOnPO.PNG

Once done, go to the Create (+) icon at the upper right. Then, choose Purchase order under Vendors. From there, you can enter the SKU information on the transaction page as seen in the screenshot below.

SKUinPurchaseOrder.PNG

You can run any purchase order reports to easily manage your PO's. Just go to Reports from the left menu. Then, find the report name in the Expenses and Vendors section.

I'll be right here in the corner to help if you need further assistance. Have a great day, @csera420

I agree this is pretty ridiculous.   I understand referential integrity and if a product is used somewhere (Invoice, PO, Estimates, etc.) then it shouldn't be able to be deleted until it is removed.   If an item is not used anywhere, it should be able to be deleted.

QBO is just plain awful. We were forced to move to it as QBD in Intuit's infinite wisdom decided to stop supporting Payroll (so they could make more money!). It has been one disaster after another, the product is not finished, full of bugs and lacks serious functionality. Not to mention the loss of most keyboard shortcuts!

There is a loophole to deleting products. If you rename one item "Product", and then rename a second the same, the program will merge them. You can continue this until you have merged all of the items and are left with only one item, the first "Product". You can substitute "Product" for any other title.

I posted about the loophole - just rename the item you want to delete as the same as an existing item, and it will merge the two, effectively deleting it.

That doesn't work with inventory items :(

Thanks for joining this thread, unhushed.

You can only make inventory items inactive in QuickBooks Online. If you wish to replace the old one, you can rename and make it inactive as mentioned in this thread.

Then, import the items using an Excel file needed for your business.

Don't hesitate to post again if you need anything else. I'm always right here to help you with any QuickBooks issues you may be having.

I get the need for referential integrity, both in the backend Database and from a business/accounting perspective. But, when it comes to importing products and services, or anything for that matter, you should allow a rollback (database term) or a staging area for review of the import, prior to committing the data to the system. I pulled in just over 700 items (yes, maybe I should have started smaller) and the import mashed fields together for some records, but not all, that were clearly delimited and butchered a bunch of data. Now my Product list is full of garbage. For a 35 yr veteran of IT, not a good experience.

Delete all my products

I'm literally going to delete everything and start fresh just because I am not able to delete "Products and Services". Some might say "You don't need to. Just make them inactive." That's not what I want to do. I want to delete them so my books are clean. And I can't.

This is insane. I should just be able to delete my products. If the books don't come out - that's on me; I'm fine with that but this program shouldn't remove functionality just to prevent mistakes.

I'm just now switching a company over to Quickbooks and I'm really regretting it. You can't bulk edit inventory types, bulk delete products, etc. this is an atrocious program.

I am really disappointed with quick book intuit, so far.

There are many basic features which has not been adjusted, although it has been addressed in the groups and chat and the concern has been raised by esteem customers.

When I am going through the threads I found that the concern has been raised 3+ years back and the solution has not been done by the designers/engineers or software developer, despite the complaints has not been entertained by quick book management, still they are forcing and asking to register your complain in the complain center. is it some thing like a joke?

This quick book Software is not one time payment it is on subscription basis. And quick book is charging amount for every month of use without improving the bugs and updates.

They are using the oldest version and charging their customer every month.

I just bought the 1 year subscription and now i am thinking that i made a mistake.

In the last, I will just list down the problems i faced during this 1 or 2 weeks.

1. In Inventory, I can not record the freight charges and import duties and other expenses, which definitely decide the landing cost of the product. Therefore the product selling price can not be accurate, you have to use other software to calculate and record, which leads the extra work. And when I address it to quick book support, they told me that you can use another application from the apps store to do this stuff (Definity that app is also charged) keep in mind that I opt PLUS version because of the inventory module.

2. When you are adding products and services in bulk, there are more chances to make wrong entries as we are new to the software, even of the products are not connected to any purchases/invoice/bill you can not delete or undo that, which makes the things worst having double entries and all.

i can see in this thread this complain or issue has been reported 3+ years back, and same procedure by quick book staff to register your complain, but if this small issue has not been corrected for last 3 years then how come they will improve it. I have a big concern now.

3. There is no demo before purchase of the software, as the customer support told me, that we can only show you / or give you demo, how the software work once you purchase it. So you have to check the software by your own like a maze game.

Hi there. I completely understand how frustrating it can be to use software that has limited features and unresolved issues.

I realize that using QuickBooks Online (QBO) can be challenging, especially when it comes to recording certain expenses accurately and bulk entries. It's unfortunate that there was no demo available before purchasing, and I can see why you would be disappointed.

Please know that I sympathize with your situation and would recommend sending feedback to our Product Developers so that they can work on resolving these issues. Let me walk you through the step-by-step process:

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your suggestion and click on Next.

Moreover, here's an article that consists of short step-by-step videos that will help you with managing your QuickBooks account: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

I'll also share this link where you can browse for articles to learn more about QuickBooks: QuickBooks Online Help Articles.

We are fully dedicated to accelerating the resolution of this matter for you. If you have any additional inquiries about QuickBooks, please leave a response below. I am here to provide assistance whenever you need it.

Delete all my products

Hello,

I can see that this and several other points has been raised since more then 3+ years by many members and no action has been taken by quickbook, and this makes me feel that my feedback and concern will also be either abandoned or kept on hold with no resolution.

Guide me with below queries:

1. How I will raise the ticket of such issues/problem? what is the procedure to escalate it?

2. After creating a ticket, how I can track, what action has been taken on my complaints/suggestion/feedback?

3. Share your plan of action of customer satisfaction, based on a subscription model, this is not one time purchase software.

4. Lastly, how I can cancel my subscription and get the refund? Because Quick book customer satisfaction policy is raising my concern, and I do not want to waste my time on this. I will definitely switch to other software in market, who is providing what they are claiming, and customer oreinted.

Please advise.

Thank you
