Join nowI have just been through my accounts and I have added all of my expenses for 2021 ready for submitting to my accountant.
When on the expense tab, it shows just over $20k of expenses for 2021. However, on my dashboard expenses, it is only showing just over $5k. Why isn't the other $15k of expenses being shown? I don't see a section for inventory on the dashboard expense square?! I don't want to submit to my accountant if my expenses are not showing clearly!
Thank you
Hello there, @NatalieC1.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I’ll help you with the missing expenses amount on the Dashboard in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
When we go to the Dashboard, we can see that the Expenses box is filtered into dates. This is one of the reason why the full amount of your expenses is not showing. You'll want to change the filter settings to ensure your expenses show up correctly.
To filter the dates, you can click the arrow icon on the Expense box. Then, select the correct filter option. If you want to show all expenses within the current period, you can select the This Fiscal year filter.
If you noticed, when filtering the date, it only shows the expenses under a specific period. It won’t exactly show all of your expenses (all dates). Instead, you can run an expense report to see them. Utilize this link for your reference.
Furthermore, I added the following articles to your overview of the Dashboard and for reference in recording sales transactions.
Let me know if you need further assistance with expenses. The Community is always here to make sure your concerns are addressed. Have a great day!
Thank you for that advice.
I have filtered by date, and have also tried running a few different reports. I have not seen any report yet that lists my income + accurate expenses on the same report. I believe it is the expenses that I recorded as "Inventory" that are missing. I can see them on the expense tab but that amount is not showing anywhere else!
Hey there, NatalieC1.
There are times that the browser keeps either too many or outdated Internet files that may cause websites, like QuickBooks Online, to act weirdly. As an initial step, we can press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page.
If it's still doesn't show all your expense transactions, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps by accessing your account in a private window. Here's how:
Once signed, check your expenses on the dashboard. If it rectifies the issue, go back to your main browser and clear its cache to remove the browser's history. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.
I recommend customizing the report to get the specific details you need. You can also memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.
Let me know the result of this troubleshooting in the comment below. I need to make sure you're able to see and submit the transactions to your accountant. I'll make sure to get back to you as quickly as I can if you need additional assistance.
