I see that you're having trouble seeing it and making changes to items on your invoice template. Let's work together to resolve this issue, usern.

I accessed the Gear icon and chose the Custom form style, and the item is not missing; it's available for editing. Did you go through these steps? If so, you can perform these steps to isolate the issue.

Access your QBO account in an incognito or private browsing window to ensure that cached data are causing the problem.

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Once done, clear your browser's cache and cookies. This can often resolve issues related to stored data. You can also use other supported and up-to-date web browsers

However, if you mean editing the invoice template by accessing the + New button icon and opening the invoice in a modern view, please note that you can only select which template to apply for that specific invoice.

To edit them, click the Manage link, which will take you to the Custom form style page, where you can make the necessary edits.

Additionally, you can read through this article to explore the new estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online: See what's new with estimates and invoices. This article also contains additional links that provide information about the new layout.

Be sure to post in the Community if you have other questions about invoices and QuickBooks new experience.

That's not an answer to the question.

@SarahannC  Please post screenshots of where and how to edit invoice templates in the new Modern View. This was easy in Classic view, but that is now gone for many users. Please show with screenshots where to edit custom form styles in Modern View.

Hi there, @PBJ10.

I understand how challenging it could be to use the new invoice modern view update. Rest assured, I'm here to guide you on how to customize your invoice forms and use your previous custom form styles.

Here's how:

  1. Open or create an invoice.
  2. Click Manage.
  3. Select the Design tab.
  4. Under the Other template, you can choose what custom form styles you want.
  5. Click Manage next to Other Template to edit them.
  6. Under the Action column, click Edit to your chosen form style you want to edit.

Furthermore, you may consider creating and printing a packing slip in QuickBooks Online. A packing slip is a document that contains items, quantities, and other necessary shipping information when shipping goods to your customers.

Let me know if you have further questions besides customizing invoice templates in the modern view of QuickBooks Online. I'd gladly assist you at any time.
