How can I add a Canadian contractor? When I add contractor, it only lets me select a state in the US from the drop down menu and it won't accept the Canadian zip code?

Hey there, nicole10.

Welcome to the Online Community. I want to ensure you’re able to smoothly add your foreign vendor.

In QuickBooks Online, you can add foreign vendors and pay them based on their currency. To do this task, you'll have to turn on the Multicurrency feature first.

Just a heads up, this option is only available if you're using QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus. If that's your current subscription, let's go ahead and activate the Multicurrency.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top and select Account and Settings.
  2. Choose the Advanced tab on the left panel.
  3. Click on the Pencil icon for Currency.
  4. Choose your Home Currency.
  5. Select the Multicurrency box to turn the feature on, then choose Save.
  6. Click on Done.

Next, add the Canadian contractor. Let me walk you through the steps.

  1.  Go to Expenses on the left panel, then choose Vendors.
  2. Select New vendor.
  3. Enter the vendor's name and other information.
  4. From the I pay this vendor with drop-down, select the appropriate currency.
  5. Choose Save.

After following the resolution, the vendor should now show in your account.
