How can I add a fiscal year? The assignment asks me to create a budget for fiscal year 2018, but the earliest available fiscal year is 2019.

For now, the option to create a budget for the 2018 fiscal year is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

However, you can create a budget and name it as 2018. Then, export it to Excel and change its fiscal year. Here's how: 

1. Click the Gear icon and select Budgeting.
2. In the upper-right corner, click Add budget.
3. Enter 2018 as the name of the budget and select any fiscal year.
4. Continue by clicking Next and then enter the budget data for 2018.
5. Select Save.

Once done, follow these steps to export it to Excel:

1. Go to Reports and open the Budget Overview report.
2. Choose the budget report from the Budget drop-down list.
3. Click Run report and select the Export button.
4. Choose Export to Excel.
5. Open the Excel file and edit its fiscal year.
