How do you reclassify a transaction in QB? For example, I classified a transaction as Repair Sales but I want it to be classified as Service Sales on my Income Statement.

Hello there, usersteve.t.lafrance.

If you mean changing the account name you've used to a transaction, we can go directly to the Chart of Accounts (COA). Then, modify the name from Repair Sales to Service Sales. It'll then reflect in the transaction and to your Income Statement. Here's how:

  1. Go Accounting on the left panel.
  2. Within the Chart of Accounts, search Repair Sales.
  3. Under the Action column, click the drop-down. Then, select Edit.
  4. Change the name. Then, Save and Close.

On the other hand, if you mean reclassifying class within the transaction. We can open that transaction and manually change the class by clicking the Class drop-down arrow. Sample screenshot:

If you want to reclassify multiple transactions at once, we'll need the help of your accountant to do it. You can check this article for more details: Learn how to use the reclassify transactions tool to batch edit transactions for your client

Also, you can use the articles below as your guide when customizing QuickBooks reports and save what you have currently modified:
