Yeah!
Hello, teamhandyllc.
I'd like to help you get the code. Though, I'm going to need more details with the issue.
Did you set up a custom forwarding email for your receipts? If so, which part did it ask for the confirmation code from Gmail?
If it's not the receipt forwarding feature, which page did it ask for the code? More details about your workflow would definitely help.
Looking forward to your reply. If you have other concerns, please include them below. I'm more than happy to help you.
I set a custom email in QBO for receipts. I then setup a filter in gmail to forward invoices to the QBO email. Gmail requires a code that is sent to the forwarding email to confirm it.
Hello, @teamhandyllc.
Let me route you to the best available support so you'd be assisted further in retrieving the code to complete the setup of your customize email forwarding.
Since the Community is a public space, we don't have the necessary tools to look into your Gmail account set-up. I'd recommend contacting the Customer Care Team for your Gmail account. This way, you'd be properly guided in completing the email set-up.
Don't hesitate to let us know how it works. The Community and I are always here to help you with customizing your sales forms in QuickBooks.
This is something I've been looking to do for years without success and support has never been helpful.
I was hoping that the new custom emails have something to do with this, but even after setting up the custom email, QBO still does not provide any mechanism to view the email that Google sends with the verification code.
The new receipt forwarding feature is ALMOST a great idea, barring this one issue. Gmail allows you to set filters to auto-forward expense receipts to your unique QB email address. HOWEVER, gmail requires a confirmation code to finalize the forwarding - that confirm code gets sent to the the unique QB email address which is impossible to recover apparently.
There has to be a way around this. The only other way I can think of accomplishing this is to use your unique QB email address as the address your bills/expenses get forwarded to. The issue here is that you don't have an official record of those expenses/bills in your email inbox.
Any ideas on how to get around this??
I appreciate the feedback you've shared about the receipt forwarding feature, @KeeganE.
The customized email is used to receiving receipts sent to you. You'd a see prompt about it in the Receipts page in your QuickBooks Online account.
Currently, I'd recommend using the built-in Receipts feature instead of having to go with a third-party option. That way, you can ensure a smooth flow when forwarding your receipts in QuickBooks. I'll help you get this sorted out.
Once verified, instructions appear on the Receipt Forwarding screen. Also, you can allow users to opt-out to email notifications when QuickBooks receives the forwarded receipts. We will always notify users if there is an issue. You can refer to this article for more detailed information: Email receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.
Lastly, you can manually send them to your QuickBooks email instead. This way, it won't ask a passcode from you.
Post again in the Community if you other questions managing your income and expenses. I’ll be more than happy to help.
With all due respect, this is not a helpful answer.
I am in the same boat. We have Receipts and Invoices sent to us by suppliers for payment. These are sent to our gmail account. Simply using the receipts functionality in QB is not an answer for small business.
The desired workflow is this.
1. Make a phone call or otherwise contact to order product from suppliers.
2. Receipt tax invoice/receipt to gmail account.
3. Automatically forward above emails to quickbooks receipting email <business name>@qbodocs.com
Sounds easy, however to setup automatic forwarding in Gmail requires the other email address be verified. This email is sitting in <QBemail>@qbodocs.com. We cannot see this inbox therefore cannot accept verify the email address therefore cannot automatically forward.
The receipts feature is great but you need solution to this.
Thanks for providing your thoughts regarding the receipt forwarding option in QBO, @greenenvyhairroo.
I can see the convenience of being able to get the code to verify the QuickBooks email. This way, you can forward the receipt from Gmail in the system.
However, the default QuickBooks email is system generated. That said, we're not able to locate any code sent from other email providers since it doesn't contain an inbox.
For now, to get your work done you may manually upload the receipts in QuickBooks Online. Just choose the Upload from computer option in the Receipts tab.
I'd like to let you know that our developers are constantly uncovering and considering new functionalities to be added to the system. This way, you'll be able to run your business smoothly and utilize the options that are frequently needed in your daily task.

How is this not resolved yet ?
It's such an oversight on behalf of Quickbooks.
We simply need to have Quickbooks allow us to Auto Forward our receipts to <businessname>@qbodocs.com
Ask a programmer to spend a couple of hours on this and save your clients a lot of headaches.
Thanks,
C.
Thanks for joining on this thread, @rememberit.
I can see that having this feature can help your business needs. Rest assured, I'll submit a follow-up request to our engineers letting them know you want this.

I've shared an article that you can use in the future about how to customize and change the customer's email address in QBO.
I'll be here if you any further concerns. Thanks for dropping by. Take care always, @rememberit.
This is a huge oversight considering the amount of people that utilize gmail for email. This was functionality that was included in Wave Accounting when I used that. In many ways I regret switching to Quickbooks and this is one of the main consistent frustrations.
If there was a way for the receipt system to recognize this 'confirmation request' from gmail and show you the email in quickbooks (Doesn't seem hard considering they already receive emails and pull in attachments) this would solve so many automation issues for so many people.
Support is incredibly unhelpful when you try to discuss the problem with them. I have never had a good experience with Quickbooks support. They are not even aware of half of the features most of the time.
I am only commenting here to maybe get an update on this issue if it ever comes. Otherwise looking into the annoying process of transitioning to something else like Xero.
Its ridiculous that an easy feature like that has not been solved yet....Its a huge headache for me and I bet a lot of others as well..
For those of you still struggling to verify your gmail forward to Quickbooks, I have a workaround solution, which will give you the same functionality using Zapier - this is working for me - Although, you would have thought QB would resolve this verification step issue, surely it's not too difficult for them to show you the code when you login.
Here's a link to the Zap https://zapier.com/apps/gmail/integrations/gmail/9993/send-emails-from-gmail-when-you-label-new-mess... - you will need a zapier account, I think the free account would still work for this, if you don't already use zapier.
I set this up so when I add a label to an email in Gmail, the Zap runs and sends the attachment to Quickbooks.
I had the exact same problem, I've ended up setting up an outlook account as it doesn't require a verification code.
I know it's too much hassle just stop using gmail but you can set up an auto forward in outlook that will bounce every email directly to QBO.
Basically instead of trying to forward receipts directly to QBO you forward them your new outlook account and anything that comes in your outlook inbox can be automatically forwarded to QBO, meaning you won't even will have to bother opening outlook ever again.
Ps. I find Outlook's filtering rules much better than Gmail's
QBO should make it easier for users to retrieve the confirmation code they need to set up auto-forwarding of their receipts.
If you're using Google Workspace (which includes Gmail for Business), here's the solution.
1. In Gmail settings, add a forwarding address on your own domain, (such as [email address removed]). Since it's on your own domain, you shouldn't be required to enter a confirmation code.
2. In Google Admin Console (you may have to ask your administrator or reseller for help with this step), navigate to Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail.
3. Click on Default Routing, then Add Another Rule.
4. Under Specify envelope recipients to match, enter the forwarding email address you used above.
5. Scroll down and check Change envelope recipient.
6. Select Replace recipient and paste in your receipt forwarding email address from QBO.
7. Scroll down and click save.
8. Wait ~20 minutes for routing policies to propagate, then try forwarding a receipt to your forwarding address.
9. Wait a few minutes then refresh the receipts screen in QBO.
10. Once you've confirmed the email routing policy is delivering your receipts to QBO, go ahead and setup your Gmail filters to auto-forward receipts to your forwarding address.
Happy forwarding!
I have the same exact problem and don’t see a solution.... wouldn’t be easier to let us know the code somehow?
Thanks for becoming part of the Community, MonicaNa.
Custom email addresses don't have an accessible inbox where you can check for emails. They're specifically used for forwarding images of receipts and bills to.
I can certainly understand how an ability to check your email's inbox could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it to our developers as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. Feature requests can be tracked through Intuit's Customer Feedback website.
As a workaround, you can use the built-in Receipts feature mentioned in IamjuViel's post.
If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message. I see that also many other questions asked on this thread are answered. That’s great.
The only issue is that you don’t seem to understand the question being asked, your answers are not at all related to the problem brought up.
I suggest you reach out to any customer posting here and take 5 minutes to truly understand the question before providing an answer.
i would gladly spend that time with you if it helps.
This is a good workaround. Thx.
Hi Xian -- I am trying to use this method and seem to be having problems. do you have an email address i can contact you at directly so that i can give me my specific and exact addresses I am using/

I've also included this article to help you in customizing your sales forms in QuickBooks.
Please let me know if you have questions or concerns in managing your email. I'm one post away. Take care!
Well this is worrying.
I'm having the same issue as many others here.
I find it pretty alarming that this has been a raised issue since June 2020 and there's been absolutely no dev work to fix this oversight.
Surely a resolution to this is a few hours work from a competent development team? There'd be an easily-detectable format for the system to track and making it visible in the UI should be possible through the same receipt interpretation mechanic?
