When we opened the QuickBooks account we made some errors with starting inventory entries and product details. So we had made multiple products inactive since QBO does not allow products to be deleted. But now when I run "Purchases by Product Service Detail" reports, the inactive products are still showing up on the report with "(deleted)" after them. I need to have these removed completely. There is no way to filter them out with the Customize -> product/service option because they don't show up on the active product list. How can I get these products out of the system?

Hi there, @nikkim1.
Thank you for posting in the Community. I’m here to share some insight about the inactive products showing in the Purchases by Product Service Detail Report.
Yes, you’re right. Inactive products would still show on your report if there are transactions linked to them. Deleting those from the system should completely remove the items.
You can also filter the products/services from your reports by reactivating them. To do that, follow the steps below:
1. Go to the Gear icon and select Products and Services.
2. From the Products and Services screen, click the Funnel icon and select Inactive on the Status drop-down.
3. Hit Apply.
4. Click the Make active link under the Action column for the item you want to reactivate.
I’m adding some helpful articles that tackle more about Products and Services below:
• Change Product and Services types.
• Remove or merge a product or service.
That should do it. Please let me know if you need further assistance working in QuickBooks. I’ll be more than happy to help. Thanks for dropping by and take care!

OK thank you. I would like to delete the related transactions. But the related transactions are just "START" opening inventory and value. Not purchase orders or bills. How can I delete starting inventory value?
"How can I delete starting inventory value?"
Unfortunately, you can't permanently delete especially starting inventory value in QBO Inventory including if you've imported items from QB desktop.
Normally, I would run the "Purchases by Product/Service Detail" report and filter the product/service by selecting "Select All" to show only active items from the list. And click Save Customizations, if this report works for you.
If you can still make the item active, I would also edit the item name to something like "zGadget101" and make it inactive again. At least, you will see it at the bottom of the report, not spread deleted items everywhere in the reports.
