Inventory System

This is my first Text I hope I can find an answer to my two questions.

I have Quickbooks 20.0 hosted by Right Networks online.

I did this to benefit from the inventory system module.

After using quickbooks inventory system for almost a year, I run into the following situations:

1) when you do an inventory adjustment  if your products has assigned two or more locations, but only one has product on, the bin field default to black instead of automatically fill with the only location that has products. (however, sometimes and it is complete random, the bin field is filed with the location that has available quantity on it)

Note: same situation when you pick products for a Sales Order or when you do a inventory transfer.

Question 1: why doesn't the system default to the bin location that has products given that it is the only location you can pick anyway instead of leaving the field black forcing you to go to the drop down and select the only possibly option.

Question 2: Is it possible after I have allocated three bins location to one product to deactivate 2 out of the 3 locations with the hope that when I have questions 1 situation the system will fill the bin given that only one option is available?

Thank you to anyone who can address this.

Thanks for being detailed about your concern, PabloMF.

In QuickBooks, you’ll have to manually assign a bin to each item/product since the system doesn’t automatically fill in the information on the transaction. That’s why you’ll have to scroll down and select the possible option.

We can deactivate the two locations, however, you still have to manually choose the right one to associate with the product. Let's inactivate it one at time.

Here's how:

  1. Go Lists at the top menu and select the Inventory Site List.
  2. Look for the bins you want to make inactive.
  3. Right-click on the bin and select Make Bin Location Inactive.bin.png

The following article lists all the benefits when setting up inventory locations, bins, etc: Multiple Inventory Sites.

Greetings, PabloMF.

I’m here to ensure you’re taken care of. Were you able to deactivate the bin locations using the steps I shared above?

Let me know in the comment box if you have any clarifications. I’ll get back to assist further.
