Buy nowI would like to print a report that essentially looks like the Chart of Accounts (Account Listing) with the normal options for that, for the Income & Other Income, and then another for the Expense and Other Expense accounts for the year, but in the "Balance" column I would like it to print the total of the income or the total of the expense for the year. I know I could print the trial balance for the dollar totals, but I'd like some of the info from the GL Account detail. Does such a report exist or can one easily (key word) be created?
Thanks in advance.
Forgot to mention ... if the income / expense for the year was zero, I would still want the item to print to help identify accounts that may be no longer needed or could be inactivated.
QuickBooks Desktop does not have an existing report that displays an account listing with balances for a specified period, Deadwood Al. However, there's a workaround to obtain the information you need. Let me share it with you.
Start by generating the Account Listing report, which will provide you with all income and expense accounts along with their GL account details.
Next, export this report to Excel to filter out any unnecessary accounts or information. Just click Excel and choose Create New Worksheet.
For guidance on this process, refer to the article: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.
Then, access either the Trial Balance or Profit and Loss report to get the dollar amounts for the year. Here's how:
After that, export them to Excel again and merge the data from the Account Listing with the Trial Balance or Profit and Loss report to obtain the necessary information.

Hmmmm .... not "easy"
I am not experienced in merging. It would likely take a while to learn doing that. Bummer.
