I create Management Reports for clients on a monthly basis. One client wants a one specific report in the Management Report in Excel format - is there a way to have this generated automatically with the others? Or do I have to manually do this every month?
I've got your back, KariBeebeLLC.
I'm here to share some details about customizing and exporting Management reports in QuickBooks Online.
As of now, we can only export Management reports via PDF or DOCX. As a workaround, I'd suggest running specific standard reports. I'd recommend checking the reports listed below to ensure you'll get the data your client likes to see.
Company Overview
Sales Performance
Expense Performance
Once you've selected a report, you can customize it to filter the details needed. Then, click on Save customization to easily access it in the future. After that, you can now export the report.
To easily access the report in the following months, you can go to the Custom reports tab. From them, you can click the drop-down menu under Action to export the report.
Also, you can submit feedback to our Product Development team to add the ability to export your Management report via Excel. Doing so improves your experience with QuickBooks.
Additionally, I encourage memorizing your reports in QuickBooks Online. This way, you'll be able to easily access the current customized settings.
Feel free to comment down below if you have any other concerns or questions about managing reports. I'm always glad to help in any way I can.
Utilize a BI app as a workaround.
Thank you for the reply - I should have been more clear. I run a Management report - which is a collection of reports that I have put together. I want one report of the collection of reports to be in xslx format when run. Possible?
Can you be more specific on what a BI app is and what it does? Thank you.
Thank you for getting back to us and providing us with more details of the concern that you’re having about reports, @KariBeebe.
At this time, you can generate and export your report to an Excel or xlsx file format one by one. The option to have it all in one file is currently unavailable.
You may consider exporting all the reports that you need in an xlsx format based on the steps provided by CharleneMae_F above. Manually compile it in a single Excel file by copy-pasting the report that you've generated in different worksheets. Just select the plus icon at the bottom of the screen.

Yes--this takes a ton of time. That's why we've reviewed your management reports...and dismissed them as not suited for purpose. And your excel report formatting is ugly and unprofessional. We need to spend 20 minutes just making them look like something issued by a professional and not put together by a 16 year old taking a bookkeeping class.
Can anyone suggest a BI tool created by actual accountants?
Do you have an update if this is being worked on by QB Team as an enhancement? I share the same sentiment. We need the management reports to be exported to excel, because we require to convert the report into another currency. The BI apps have additional costs.
I appreciate you asking for updates about exporting Management Reports to Excel, Padua. Let me share some information about this feature.
We didn't receive updates as to when exporting the management reports in Excel format be available. For now, you can export them as PDF or DOCX. From there, you may use a supported third-party app that'll help you convert the file. Additionally, you can submit a feature request to our product developers to support exporting management reports directly to Excel.
Here's how:
Once done, your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your QBO experience. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
