Sales > Products and Services > I picked a product & edited the Sales tax to be Nontaxable. After, my invoices have changed into Pledges. How do I return to Invoices?

I still need invoices. I changed tax status back to taxable. However, all pledges remain and have not been recategorized a invoices. How do I fix it?

You may have set up the company as a Non-profit as it automatically makes your invoice as a pledge, treasurer-cloudh. Let me share the steps to fix and recategorize invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Changing the sales tax from the Products and Services page will only affect the accounting on your books. It won't change any transaction type in your account.

In this case, access your QuickBooks account via incognito or private window. This mode doesn't retain cache, so we can verify if it is a webpage issue. Use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N

From there, sign in to your QuickBooks account to check if the invoices became pledges. If it works, I recommend clearing the default browser's cache. You can also use other supported browsers to isolate this issue.

Afterward, go to your regular browser to log out and sign in to your QuickBooks company to refresh the page. Let's also confirm your company type and see if we need to switch to another Tax form. If you're in a Nonprofit Organization, doing so will reverse the pledges to invoices.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Account and Settings.
  3. On the Company tab, click Company type.
  4. Choose any business organization on the Tax form drop-down menu.
  5. Tap Save.

Next, consider checking the Audit log if you have other users to see who made changes to your QuickBooks settings. For complete instructions, refer to this article: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

Please inform me of how the troubleshooting goes. It's my priority to get back to generating invoices. Wishing you and your business continued success!
