Standard P&L to Itemized P&L

Hi-  I often times run a "Standard" P&L and need to look at the details.  Rather than run the report again as an "Itemized" P&L is there a quick way to switch to an "Itemized" P&L view when the "Standard" P&L is displaying?

Thanks,

Rob

You can't convert the report to another type.

Picking the report from the menu is just a couple of clicks.

Is it initiating the report that you want to be faster, or the time QB takes to generate it - which is usually very fast, in my experience?

Standard P&L to Itemized P&L

Thanks for the reply.  No issues with the processing/speed of the report. Often times I run an Itemized P&L with different filters and or columns.  Running a report itemized to analyze the various category and then having to re-run the report "Standard" having to reset filters and columns again is labor intensive.  I was hoping for something like the "Expand"/"Collapse" button that exists for Journal Entries.

Thank you for sharing your experience about filtering the P&L report, 2robertc.

You can save the report after making some changes on it. Simply click the Memorize button to use the same filters. This way, you don't have to go through the same customization again.

Let me show you how:

  1. From the reports window, select Memorize.
  2. On the Memorize Report window, type in the name you want to assign the report.
  3. (Optional) Choose the Save in Memorized Report Group checkbox if you want to save the report on a specific report group (Accountant, Banking, etc...)
  4. (Optional) Choose Share this report template with others. When you select this checkbox, your report template will be accessible to other QuickBooks users when they go to the Contributed tab in the Report Center.
  5. Click OK.

Check out this link: Create, access and modify memorized reports to learn more about saving a customized report in QuickBooks Desktop.

For your journal entries, QuickBooks combines multiple items in a transaction into a single line on the report. You can click the Expand Rows button on the reports toolbar. See the attached screenshot below for your visual guide.
