On 12/11/23 my version of QuickBooks Online was one way and when I signed back in 12/14/23 EVERYTHING was changed. What happened?

The old layout for invoices there was a field Customer Email and Send Later. The new layout doesn't have either. Is there a way to put these options on the new layout?

Hello, cher941265.

Transitioning to a new platform can be daunting, especially when you have already become accustomed to the previous layout. It can be challenging to navigate the new interface and locate the features and tools that were once easily accessible. Additionally, adapting to any changes in the workflow and processes can add to the complexity and frustration of the transition. However, overcoming these challenges and becoming proficient with the new platform is possible with patience and persistence.

The changes to the invoice templates could be driven by factors such as user feedback, industry trends, or the need to improve the software's overall functionality. For instance, QuickBooks may change the invoice templates to make them more customizable and easier to use or add new features that could enhance the user experience.

While some users may find it frustrating that the invoice templates keep changing, it's essential to understand that these changes are often made to improve the software's functionality and user experience. QuickBooks Online is committed to providing its users with the best possible tools to manage their financials, including regular updates and improvements to the software.

Furthermore, I recommend sending Feedback to our product developer team to provide the best possible experience for all our customers. They are dedicated to ensuring that our product is of the highest quality and that our customers have a seamless experience. Your feedback is important to us, and we would happily pass it on to our team.

The Quickbooks Team would be better off not replying at all if these are the answers they're telling you to give.

For almost a year QBO has been getting feedback saying how much customers hate the new changes. The evidence is all over this forum. The fact that they moved forward with forcing these changes on us during one of the busiest times of the year is unacceptable. The new invoice layout has REMOVED vital features we need as explained by @cher941265 , and added nothing useful.

These types of responses only reinforce our resolve to migrate to a different program in the new year.

The old layout for invoices there was a field Customer Email and Send Later. The new layout doesn't have either. Is there a way to put these options on the new layout?

You did not answer my question!

You gave me a generic ‘fluff and patronizing’ answer.

Once again, here is the question:

In the old layout for invoices there was a field ‘Customer Email’ and ‘Send Later.’ The new layout doesn't have either. Is there a way to put these options on the new layout?

How do I put the Customer email field on the invoice and how do I put the ‘Send Later’ and Print Later’ options back on the invoice???

To address your ‘response’ to my original question above:

Transitioning to a new platform is not daunting. What is a problem is your comment, ‘It can be challenging to navigate the new interface and locate the features and tools that were once easily accessible.’

First of all, why would you move features ‘that were once easily accessible’?

Secondly, I can adapt to change but your new platform has not just ‘moved’ things around. It has actually removed some of the key functions. I can spend HOURS looking to ‘locate the features and tools’ when in fact you are not being honest with your customers and have actually REMOVED many options.

Another comment you made:

“to improve the software's overall functionality. For instance, QuickBooks may change the invoice templates to make them more customizable and easier to use or add new features that could enhance the user experience.”

It is not more customizable. It is more limiting and definitely not enhancing my experience. It is leading to more frustration.

Your comment “I recommend sending Feedback to our product developer team.”

I have tried that SEVERAL times and EVERY time I get the same response.

Quickbooks response to me sending Feedback:

“Thanks for the feedback! We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with the team. We rely heavily on hearing what is, and isn’t working from you to improve QuickBooks, so keep the feedback coming. Your feedback is used in each and every prioritization discussion around improving QuickBooks Online.

And the hamster wheel keeps going around and around.

Quickbooks, if you cannot give me a direct answer of yes or no and the  steps to get the fields I am asking about on the invoice don’t insult me by giving me a response and a link to send me down a rabbit trail.

The old layout for invoices there was a field Customer Email and Send Later. The new layout doesn't have either. Is there a way to put these options on the new layout?

We always make sure to provide the best feature when managing invoices and we understand that the new invoice layout differs from the usual way of creating your invoice transactions, cher941265.

The option to customize the invoice in the new layout to put the Customer email field and the ‘Send Later’ and Print Later’ options back on the invoice is unavailable. QuickBooks Online (QBO) underwent an update that required customers to switch from the old invoice experience to the new one. Only selected users can switch between different invoice styles.

If you're using the Simple Start version, switching back to the old layout is no longer available. If you're using other versions, we can switch back to the old invoice experience and revert your invoice to the old layout. Here's how:

  1. On the left navigational bar, click the +New button.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. On the top-right corner, click the Old layout button.
  4. Tap the Switch layout button.
  5. Enter or select the necessary details, and then the click Leave and submit button.

See the screenshot below for your reference:

newinvoice1.pngnewinvoice2.png

Once done, we can also get back to your old invoice template. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. Find your template.
  4. Tap the dropdown ▼ in the Action column.
  5. Click Make default. You'll see (default) displayed by the default template name.

You can check out this article for more details: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. If you can't switch between different invoice styles, please send feedback directly to our Product Engineers so they can look into it and add this feature in future updates. Just follow the steps provided by my colleague on this thread.
