Looking for a advice on how to record multiple credit card transactions from multiple vendors towards single inventory part.
As a part of our business we sell a camera system recorders. For custom jobs we have to build one by purchasing bunch of parts. It is pretty much just a simple computer that we buy parts separately and put it together to sell as 1 piece to a customer. This is typically is only a portion of a larger estimate or invoice and it will be nearly impossible for us to track every item individually since some hardware could of been sourced as a leftover hardware from previous system built so it make sense to market just 1 item and it also simplifies it for a customer otherwise no one would understand what those parts actually mean.
what would be a best practice to do this? Convert this item to non-inventory?
Thank you for providing us in-depth details of your inventory concern, smartworx.
In QuickBooks Desktop (Premier, Enterprise, or Accountant) version, we can track the products you build using inventory parts. This allows you to combine inventory parts to build and track finished goods. Also, QuickBooks automatically updates your stock of components and track your pending builds, check and shortages.
On the other hand, you can convert the item to non-inventory if you don’t want to track the component. However, just set it up as an inventory part if you need to track a component’s quantity.
You can follow the detailed steps in this article to track the products using inventory parts: Track the products you manufacture.
