Yes, why would an accounting system need to have such a report. It's sooooo very advanced and probably rarely used.
Also, there's an offering that is less featured than "essential"? So, you're admitting that Intuit sells accounting software that has less than the essential features needed to keep the books?! Amazing!
RE: What happened to the Profit and Loss Detail Report?
Assuming you have a version of QuickBooks Online that doesn't have the report, you can probably get your detail report by running a standard Profit and Loss summary report and then clicking on the Net Income dollar amount at the bottom of the report. The result should be a Profit and Loss Detail report.
