What's the best way to track income by service date and how do we pull up by service date? We are a catering business and customers pay ahead of time which makes it hard

I need to be able to search by service date so that we can tell what's going out that day as well as pulling sales for a specific time period, not the period in which it was paid.

It's nice to see you in the Community, lorettascatering.

We can run the Sales by Customer Detail report and add the Service Date column to track your income. Let me help and walk you through the steps.

Here's how:

  1. In your company, navigate to the Reports menu on the left panel and type Sales by Customer Detail in the search box.
  2. On the report's page, tap the Report period drop-down and choose the correct date range.
  3. Click the Customize button in the upper right to open the Customize report window.
  4. Press the Change Columns link and check the Service Date box.ct.1.png
  5. Tap the Run report menu for the changes to take effect.ct.png

To get the most out of your reports and focus on the details that are important for your business, you can go over this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to visit the Community page if you need more details on how to manage your company's income, customers' data , and other sales-related processes. You'll find resources to help your business thrive from there.

Reach out to me again if you have any clarifications about customizing reports or additional questions about managing your income. I'll be around to assist you further, lorettascatering.
