Which version of quickbooks online allows you to select a custom date range for each quarter? If there is not one, can anyone recommend a third party integration?

We need reports that show Q1 as Dec, Jan, Feb; etc.
Our accountant does not want us to change our fiscal year on the books and we need to pull these monthly.  Trying to find a work around from creating a complicated spreadsheet.

Have you explored any BI app as a workaround?

If you have a payroll subscription, then you can have the option to customize the date range for each quarter or month in your payroll reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @jamie-stiptonstu.

However, pulling up a specific payroll report containing the quarterly and monthly together in QBO is unavailable. I'd recommend sending feedback so our product developers can consider adding this feature in future updates. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the QBO account.
  2. Go to the Settings icon and select Feedback.
  3. Enter your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

In the meantime, let's pull up separate payroll reports in your QBO company and then enter the specific date range for each quarter or month manually.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the QBO account.
  2. Go to the Reports tab.
  3. On the Search box, enter Payroll. You can select a specific payroll report.
  4. On the Last Pay Date dropdown, choose Custom. Then, select the particular date range for each quarter or customize the date range by monthly.
  5. Once done, click Apply.
  6. Also, you can click the Customize option to modify the details included in that specific report.
  7. If everything is good, then click Run Report.

I've also attached screenshots for reference:

Also, you can explore the Apps tab to find other third-party integrations that will show quarterly and monthly dates in one report:

  1. Go to the Apps tab.
  2. Select Find Apps.
  3. Search for an app specific to your business needs.

Furthermore, you can utilize this article to learn how to enter paid taxes made outside of QuickBooks Online Payroll: Enter tax payments made for prior tax periods.

I'm always around to help if you have other questions or concerns with pulling up payroll reports for each quarter or monthly. Have a good one.

I have not, do you have any you recommend? Not sure where to start and I didn't see any in the QBO recommended apps that mentioned custom quarterly reporting.

Glad to have you back in the thread with your app recommendation inquiry, Jamie.

Please know that the Community is a public space. Therefore, we cannot advise a specific app that generates a custom date range report and then integrates it into your QuickBooks Online Payroll. I recommend following my colleague's previous response on utilizing our Find Apps feature that helps you uncover different apps that may suit your needs.

You can use keywords such as Quarterly reports when exploring for an app in the Find Apps feature. I also recommend researching other site references like Google or Safari.

Once you've identified the appropriate application to use, familiarize the process of downloading and managing it by consulting this article: Integrate app in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, if you intend to transfer app ownership or disconnect applications in your QuickBooks Online, refer to this article for a complete guideline: Transfer app ownership or disconnect apps in QuickBooks Online and Accountant.

Let me know if you have further concerns in integrating or managing third-party applications in QuickBooks Online, Jamie. I'll be here to assist you as soon as I get your reply.
