You may manually delete all your 2020 transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @jonnymechanic. This way, you can start reconciling your accounts starting January of the year 2021. I'm here to guide you how.

Reconciliation of accounts is a necessary process to review your transactions in QBO. With this, you're able to make sure your accounts always match your real-life bank and credit card statements. I'd recommend performing this every month to keep your account updated. This will also help you monitor your income, expenses, and any possible errors.

To manually delete or remove your 2020 transactions, here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account you want to review, then select View register under the Action column.
  4. Choose the Filter option, then select all the necessary details.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Select a transaction to open its details, then click the Delete button.
  7. Click Yes to confirm. Repeat the process as needed.

Once done, you're now set to perform your very first reconciliation for the year 2021. You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, here's an article that'll further guide you in doing or fixing a reconciliation in QBO: The reconcile workflow in QuickBooks. It includes topics about new reconciliation, fixing a possible issue, and editing completed ones.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other banking concerns or inquiries about reconciling your accounts in QBO, I'm just around to help. Take care always.

That sadly doesn't look the same as mine. Not really impressed with the usability of this program. Your online support says different things than what is actually in front of me. This is the 3rd time your instructions have been different than what is in front of me. Is there a way I can have one of your staff do it for me seeing as I seem to be paying for just about everything costing more than an accountant anyway.
