removing a field from a report

In the Wholesale & Manufacturing edition of Enterprise, I'm trying to run a (seemingly simple) report and NOT show a field. We use Build Assemblies to inventory our finished goods. The report that I want to run is a simple Quick Report that shows all of my build assemblies for the year. What I don't want showing on the report is the field that says "On Hand As Of..." it is listed at the top of every single assembly item and I can't figure out how to remove it. I've attached a screen capture highlighting the field that I would like to remove.

Hi @topherfarrell,

We want to help you with your concern about the Quick Report. However, we need more information about it to provide the correct resolution and to get this sorted out promptly.

Can you share with me what specific Quick Report you're referring to in QuickBooks? This way, I'll be able to check if we can customize the report and remove the field.

I've checked your post and haven't found any screenshots attached to it. You can add more details, as well as attachments by adding a comment below.

In the meantime, you can check the following article to personalize reports in QuickBooks: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please know that you're always welcome to post any questions you have in this space. Have a great day ahead.

I'm using an item quick report by right clicking on an item that I want to include and choosing "Quick Report" from the drop down, then customizing from there. None of the customizable fields are addressing the removal of the field that I mention in my previous post. I've also tried "Stock Status By Item, Sales By Class & Type, Sales By Product..." I've also tried various contributed reports and even Advanced Reporting but can not seem to solve this. The highlighted field in my attached image shows what I'm trying to remove from displaying in the report.

I appreciate the screenshot and additional information you've provided, @topherfarrell. Let me share details about customizing reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This way, you can manage your items accordingly.

The On Hand As Of [date] is a default field when pulling up item Quick Report in QBDT. Removing it by customizing the said report isn't an option. However, you can pull up the Inventory Stock Status by item instead and remove unnecessary columns (i.e., On Hand) to get the data you need. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Inventory, then Inventory Stock Status by Item.
  3. Click Customize Report.
  4. In the Display tab, uncheck the column you want to remove.
  5. Select OK80.PNG

Also, QBDT provides different reports that cater to your business needs. To know more about how QuickBooks generates them, I'd recommend checking out this article: Understand reports. It as well covers basic information about reports in QBDT (i.e., customizing and setting report preferences).

Please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments if you have other reporting concerns and questions about managing items in QBDT. I'm always around to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @topherfarrell.

Thank you for the info, this actually doesn't give me the data that I need though. In the most basic sense, all I need to see are the total numbers of build assemblies that we've built in a specific date range without showing the totals at the bottom of every build. I've got thousands of SKUs that I report on and export to Excel so I can distribute them. Right now I have to manually go through the report and remove the line that has the total. The "On Hand" number is in the same field as the individual item quantity, which I need. Can I post an actual spreadsheet here and show you the field that I'm talking about? Or send it to you directly? I can strip it down to a few items so it won't be too big.
