Report for Inventory parts needed for a sales order

Hello

we have thousands of items set up as Inventory Assembly. I would like to know if there is a way to get a bill o materials or report that shows me what are the components I need to manufacture a particular Sales Order that has been entered.

a report that I can run and shows the list of components regardless if there is a shortage or not.

Any help would be greatly appreacited

Report for Inventory parts needed for a sales order

Thanks for reaching out to us here, ManufacturingClothingguy.

I know a report that you can use to view the items or components from a particular sales order. You can pull up two separate reports (Open Sales Orders by Item and Open Purchase Orders Detail) and then export them to Excel to get the details. Let me guide you how.

To pull up Open Sales Orders by Item:

  1. Go to the Reports menu, choose Sales, then select Open Sales Orders by Item.
  2. Tap the Customize Report button. Add any additional information that you'll like to see on the report.
  3. Press OK and then Refresh.
  4. Click the Excel drop-down at the top and then Create a new worksheet.

For Open Purchase Orders Detail:

  1. From the Reports menu, choose Purchases, then select Open Purchase Orders Detail.
  2. Tap the Customize Report button.
  3. Press OK and then Refresh.
  4. Click on the Excel drop-down and then Create a new worksheet in the same workbook.

After you export both reports in Excel, you can combine them in a third worksheet.

That'll do it. Please let me know if you still have questions or concerns with inventory assembly. I'll be here to help. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.

Not quite what I need. Actually not even close.

In this particular scenario you will create  SALES ORDER with 4 items of the type Inventory Assembly. Each Item has a set of components, shared or not.

What I want to see is a report that shows me that for that particualer SALER ORDER # XYZ I need the following Components and Qty. and this is not a Shortage Report by Item. IN fact  its pretty close. but I need NOT ONLY the ones that I'm missign but all the components in general regardless of their inventory status

Thanks for your prompt reply, ManufacturingClothingguy.

I'd like to share some information about your concern.

For now, the option is to open the assembly item to view the components by going to Lists > Item List. Then, take note of the information and run the Open Sales Order by Item or Inventory Stock Status by Item report. This way, you can check the Bill of Materials.

I also recommend sending a product suggestion to our product developers. They'll review this idea and might consider updating it in the future.

You can follow these steps to send feedback:

  1. Go to the Help located at the top.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Choose Product Suggestion.
  4. Add you request and click Send Feedback.

If you want to check the status of your request, you can click this link: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.
