report to show items, with sales information, sold below retail

I appreciate you returning to this thread and asking for further clarifications in regard to generating the exact report in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Brita. Let me add additional information to this matter.

You can generate the Sales-by-item detail report suggested by my colleague above. After that, by customizing the report and adding extra columns to incorporate sales data with retail pricing or discount prices, we can achieve the report you need.

Here's how:

  1. Click on the Customize Report located at the top left of the report on the Sales by Item Detail report.
  2. On the Column section, type in Discount Available and put a checkmark on it. It will give you the discounted price of the item you have in your report.
  3. Next, enter the Rate and put a checkmark on the column beside. It gives the option to see the current and previous rates of the item before and after all discounts and taxes.
  4. Once you've done personalizing your report, click OK.

Once you've created a personalized report, you can save its customization. Visit this material to know more about this feature: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

report to show items, with sales information, sold below retail

You can run the Sales by Item Detail report to see items sold below retail price along with sales information in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Brita2.

The report will show the retail price, discount amount, and sales price for each item sold. You can identify items sold below retail by comparing the retail price column to the sales price column (amount after discounts).

  1. Go to Reports, then choose Sales.
  2. Select Sales by Item Detail.
  3. Click the Customize Report button at the upper-right top.
  4. Check the boxes for Retail Price and Discount Amount under Display columns.
  5. Click OK.

Thank you for the instructions.  However I do not show an area to modify the

sales by item detail report, nor does it have the selections to add retail pricing or discount price while using QuickBooks desktop.

As you can see for attached there is no selection for Discount Available or anything for Discount.  Please advise.

I've got ways to ensure the Discount Available column is included in the Sales by Item Detail report, @Brita2.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), the Discount Available column is only available for specific company types, such as product and service-based businesses.

If you're using the correct one, the Verify and Rebuild tool can check your company file for any data damage that causes the missing column and perform necessary repairs. Before doing so, ensure to update QBDT to the latest release.

To verify your company data:

  1. Go to Window and select Close All.
  2. Select File, then Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.

Here's how to rebuild:

  1. Go to File, select Utilities, and then select Rebuild Data.
  2. Press OK when QBDT asks to make a backup. Choose where to save it and click OK.
  3. Select OK once you get the message Rebuild has completed.

Once done, rerun the Verify Data tool to double-check for additional issues.

Moreover, you can memorize your reports to save and use the same customization settings for future use.
