I'm glad that you bring this concern to our attention, @tcc.

Generating a summary report that displays the quantity and average amount is convenient within QuickBooks Online (QBO), as this feature provides valuable information of each products and inventory status.

The Sales by Product/Service Summary Report should have this feature as it's the default display when accessing the report. Yet, this feature wasn't visible in your summary report. Therefore, I recommend performing basic troubleshooting, as QBO may occasionally present unusual behavior due to cached internet files. To address this issue, you may follow the keyboard shortcuts to open an incognito window or private browser:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Sh

If it works, I recommend clearing your cache and cookies to update any website preferences that might be restrict with the program's functionality. If not, you can switch to different supported browser that is compatible.

Alternatively, you may use the Sales by Product/Service Detailed Report and modify any unnecessary additional columns or filters by selecting the customize button.

Furthermore, for future reference, you may check this article on creating a recurring sales receipt in QuickBooks Online: Set up a recurring sales receipt.

I'd appreciate an update on the progress made after implementing the recommended steps. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further inquiries regarding reports in QuickBooks Online. I'm here to help. Have a nice day.

It did not help by trying incognito in the different browsers.  We are a cpa business and like to measure our progress, during tax season, by monitoring qty of different products and average price.  There isn't a customization option allowing you to add qty and average price per unit.  I don't understand why this report changed, the description is the same but no matter what I do qty & avg price are no longer on the report I generate.

Thank you for getting back to the thread, @tcc.

Let me help you show the quantity and average price when running the Sales by Product/Service Summary report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Upon checking here on my end, it shows the quantity and the average price. I suggest when generating the report, make sure to customize it by filtering the products and services and the customers.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the left navigation panel, and select Reports.
  2. In the search field, type Sales by Product/Service Summary, and click it.
  3. Select Customize, and filter the Report Period.
  4. Select the Filter below.
  5. Click the drop-down button of Product/Service then Select All.
  6. For the Customer, click the drop-down button then select the customer that you want to show.
  7. Tick the box of location and class if you want to show.
  8. Click Run report.

As an alternative option, you can also run the Sales by Product/Service Detail report.

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Select Switch to classic view.
  3. Select Customize, then filter the report period.
  4. Select Filter, then filter it of your choice.
  5. Then, select Run Report.

However, if the quantity and average per price still not showing. I suggest contacting support to further check what's causing this by accessing your account in a secure environment and determining possible solutions to your concerns.

I'll also add this article to help you customize reports and focus on the details that matter the most to you: Customize reports.

Please feel free to drop a comment below, if you have any other concerns about customizing the report. I will answer them in any possible way.
