Reports

I am running Enterprise Manufacturing Edition. I need a report of customer sales, totals by item (not dollar amt, just number sold) by month. Something similar to this. The report could list all customers, or ideally could filter by customer.

Thanks for sharing a screenshot with me, @ckennedy1.

You can consider running the Sales by Item Summary report and customize it to a specific customer. This report shows you how many items or services that have been sold.

However, you’ll want to customize the report for each month to show the numbers of items sold by months. Let me show you how it’s done in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Sales.
  3. Choose Sales by Item Summary.
  4. Click Customize Report.
  5. Go to the Filters tab.
  6. Select Name from the Filter menu and choose a specific customer from the drop-down menu. 1.JPG
  7. Then click OK.

You can also read this article for reference to learn some tips on customizing reports in your QBDT software: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'd also recommend to memorize the report to save its current settings. This way, you won't have to customize it again to show the data you need.

If there’s anything else you need help in customizing reports in QBDT, you can always tag me in. I’m more than happy to share some tricks with you. Keep safe!

Thank you. Is it possible to delete all the extraneous columns (amount, % sales, avg price)?

The Amount, % Sales, Avg Price are part of default columns in the report, @ckennedy1. Hence, we're unable to remove them.

As a workaround, you can export the report to Excel, then remove the extra column from there to achieve the reports needed for your business. Here's how:

  1. In your Sales by Item Summary report's page, click Excel
  2. Select Create New Worksheet
  3. In the Send Report to Excel window, mark the in new workbook radio button, then select Export
