Run report of untagged transactions

I am trying to run a report to find the transactions that I haven't tagged in QuickBooks Online. I can't see a way to filter the transactions or add a column on the transaction report. I know there are many missing because when I run a P&L vs a P&L by Group/Tag my expenses are off by $100k, so there is 100k worth that I haven't tagged.

Any help would be great! I'm not opposed to using classes however I have spent a ridiculous amount of time tagging the transactions because it looked like it would be more dynamic than classes.

Help please!

Run report of untagged transactions

Hello there, @Leann Martin.

Thanks for visiting the Community today. You can run the Transaction List by Tag Group report with the Group by option set to None.

While you're on the report window, follow these steps below:

  1. Click the small Gear icon, then click Show more
  2. Tick the Class checkbox to display a list of both classified and unclassified transactions.
  3. Click Run report.

Run report of untagged transactions

It's great to see you joining in on this thread, sep32. Tracking untagged entries is important to see which transactions are added to your data. I'm here to provide information to help you run the report you need.

You may consider running the Transaction List by Customer report to review all untagged transactions. This will enable the data entered on your account to show when pulling up the record. To do this:

  1. Go to Reports and enter Transaction List by Customer report from the search icon.
  2. Set Group by option to None and review the correct reporting period.
  3. See all transactions that aren't been added with tags.

In addition to that, you can review and see all untagged transactions from the Tags section under the Gear icon. Refer to these steps to track these entries:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Tags.
  2. Click the See all untagged transactions link.
  3. Select all transactions to which you will be adding tags.
  4. Click Update tags, then select Add tags.
  5. Type in the tag that you want to assign. Once done, click Apply.

Furthermore, I've included this reference that may help you memorize the customization applied to your reports: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

This will now provide you with the information you need when tracking untagged transactions in your online data. Just let me know in the comments below and I'll be sure to help you further. Keep safe and have a good one!
