Sales Receipt/Paid Outs

I'm a bookkeeper for a restaurant. Everyday I do a sales receipt of the daily sales. This receipt zeros out. My question is how do I expense a paid out to go to the petty cash account? I have to subtract the cash and paid outs

Sales Receipt/Paid Outs

Hi cndysac!

It's great that you're able to record the daily sales using a sales receipt. I'm here to show you how to record the funds going to the petty cash account.

You can simply transfer the funds from the bank to your petty cash account. First, make sure to set up the petty cash, then follow these steps:

  1. Go to the + New button and select Transfer.
  2. From the Transfer Funds From dropdown, select the bank account that the money is coming from.
  3. Under the Transfer Funds To dropdown, select the petty cash account.
  4. Enter the date, amount, and memo if needed.
  5. Tap Save and close.

I also added this article if you need help in balancing the accounts: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Keep on posting here if you have additional concerns. I'll be more than happy to help!

Sales Receipt/Paid Outs

On the sales receipt the cash for the paid out is a credit. If I transfer it debits the petty cash. I need it to credit the petty cash.
