Sales Tax Liability report

Hi @Mike397, I'll help make sure to run your report.

Let's perform a few troubleshooting steps so you can get back to business and work with QuickBooks accordingly. This way, we can determine why you're unable to run the Sales Tax Liability report in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Let's download and install the latest released version of QuickBooks for Mac. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to QuickBooks.
  2. Select Check for Updates.
  3. On the pop-up window, select Install Update.
  4. Click Install and Relaunch.

But if you're still unable to transfer and upgrade your file even after following the steps above, consider manually updating QuickBooks with the steps outlined in this article: How to Keep QuickBooks for Mac Up-to-Date?

However, if you're already working with the latest released version, it's best to offload QuickBooks by clicking Move to Trash on your desktop. Then, follow the second set of steps in this article and restart your iMac: How to Clean Install or Uninstall QuickBooks for Mac?

Once done, consider checking the system requirements before installing QuickBooks from scratch: Install and Set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'm adding this reference with the tips and topics to use while keeping your business growing with us:

Sales Tax Liability report

Thanks for the response.  My version of QB is up to date.  Problem is the Sales Tax Liability report simply has vanished from QB.  I've used it every month for several years, as recently as last month but now it's gone.

Sales Tax Liability report

Hey there, @Mike397

Thanks for following up with us and letting us know that your QuickBooks is up to date.

If reinstalling the program isn't working for you, as my colleague mentioned above, let's double-check that your preferences are set up correctly. The Sales tax liability report and other related reports won't appear if the sales tax option was turned off.

Here's how to turn it on:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks menu, then select Preferences.
  2. Click on Sales tax.
  3. Check Customers are charged sales tax.
  4. Choose if you pay sales tax MonthlyQuarterly, or Annually.
  5. Pick how sales tax accrues. Select As of invoice date for an Accrual Basis or click on Upon receipt of payment for a Cash Basis.
  6. Tap the dropdown for Most common sales tax or hit Edit to set up sales tax items or groups for each county, district, or city you collect sales tax.

For additional details about this process, check out Set up sales tax in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Please let me know if you continue to have issues with the report. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care, Mike!
