I am running my Sales Tax Liability report and the Total Sales column is not showing the actual Total Sales.
@lasame May help to provide at least one image of the problem or more detail regarding it.
For instance, where are you pulling the total actual sales from?
At any rate, it probably has something to do with how the Items are set up.
I can help you ensure that the total sales in your report are presented accurately, lasame. Let's start by checking if the report date falls within the specified range. I can guide you through the necessary steps to achieve this.
First, verify the date ranges selected for your report. A mismatch in dates may cause incomplete data to be displayed.
If the dates align with the transactions you expect to see but the total sales figures remain incorrect, check the Report basis. The report basis can be set to either Accrual or Cash, which affects how sales and their corresponding sales tax are recognized in your financial reports.
With the Accrual basis, sales are recorded as soon as they happen, regardless of when payment is received. If you send an invoice to a customer, that sale is immediately included in your Total Sales, including any sales tax. Conversely, the Cash basis records sales only upon payment receipt. Therefore, if a customer hasn't yet paid their invoice, that sale and its related tax will not be included in the report until payment is made.
Lastly, if neither report basis reflects the actual total sales, please verify that all sales entries are recorded. Sales transactions must be documented through sales receipts or invoices; otherwise, they will not appear in your financial reports, including the Sales Tax Liability report.
