Search within customer notes online

We just switched from QB desktop to online.  In our desktop version, we could search a text and any customer with that text anywhere within their profile would come up.  We use the notes portion of our customers to hold more detailed information including other family contacts with different names.  I need to be able to do the same thing in my online customer profiles.  As of right now, if I search in customers it will only pull up customers with that name, it does not search any other field but the name.

Search within customer notes online

Welcome aboard to the Community, EmilyDiaz.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop are the same product but have different interfaces. That’s why some features don't work the same way for each platform.

In QBO, you’ll have to open your client’s profile or go to the Customer Details tab to find specific information. Let me help and guide you on how to get there.

  1. Tap the Sales menu on the left panel to choose Customers.
  2. Click on the customer’s name to view the profile.
  3. From there, navigate to the Customer Details tab and manually find the information you’re looking for.cx form.png
  4. If you’re unable to see it, click the Edit menu in the upper right to open the Customer information window.cx form.1.png
  5. Then, review all the details.

For future reference, here’s an article that covers all the details on how to use the Search function to look for transactions in QBO: Magnifying glass.

Additionally, these links contain resources to get acclimated to the tasks you can do in the online program.
