Show Bills Due

Hello, I used to see only bills that were due when I opened my dashboard. Now they do not. Is there a way I can manually query only the bills that are due. These are setup as Bill Reminders. Thank you.

Show Bills Due

Hello there, @jbooze1.

Currently, showing the amount due on your bills in the dashboard is unavailable. In the meantime, we can go to the Expenses tab and filter the list to show the open bills.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu.
  2. Select the Expenses tab.
  3. Click the Filter drop-down arrow.
  4. From the Type drop-down, choose "Bill."
  5. In the Status drop-down, select Overdue.
  6. Enter the date, then click Apply.

I'd also recommend sending feedback to our product development team. We take suggestions when looking for product improvements and ways to enhance QuickBooks. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, select Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestion.
  4. Hit Next.

I've added this link about paying bills in QuickBooks Online (QBO): Enter bills and record bill payments.

Please let me know if you have other questions about past-due bills in QuickBooks. I'm always happy to help. Take care.

Hi Maybell_S,

I tried what you sent me, that I had also found from suggestions online. The data I am talking about is set in Reoccurring Transactions. You know how you set a date the bill is due and then you pick a number of proceeding it that tells you when to pay it. Is there a way to show when a Reoccurring Transaction is due?

Thank you,

John

Hi there, @jbooze1.

I'm here to help share insights about the recurring template in QuickBooks Online to remind you when a transaction is due.

Recurring transactions can be set to automatically send to customers or vendors without human intervention. Or a reminder notification so that company owners, like you, get prompt messages telling you what transactions are due in the coming days.

Now to avoid delaying the transaction processing, you'll want to create the reminder a day or two before the due date. Let's create the recurring template of your bills in advance at least 1 day ahead of schedule to send them before their dues. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Lists, select Recurring transactions.
  3. Select New.
  4. On the Transaction Type menu, select Bill.
  5. Click Ok.
  6. Enter the name of your new bill recurring template.
  7. Below the Type selection menu, choose Reminder.
  8. Type in on the Create _ days in advance field.
  9. Perform all the required fields of the bill transaction information.
  10. Click Save template.

Kindly read this article to learn more about recurring bills and other transaction templates: Create Recurring Transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Aside from editing the details of your recurring invoices, here's an article to help ensure they go through every schedule you created: How to Handle Recurring Transaction that Did Not Run in QuickBooks Online?.

Lastly, I've also included this article for a list of reports you may find helpful in reviewing your list of recurring templates: How to Get a List of all your Recurring Transactions and the Accounts they're Linked to in QuickBook....

I've got you covered if you have other questions aside from working with recurring bills in QuickBooks. Don't forget to include my name, @JonpriL, in your reply in the comments below so that I can get back here and lend a helping hand. Take care always and stay safe!

Show Bills Due

Hello JonPriL,

I have created and used reoccurring transactions for year now, I believe, how you outlined below. However, they used to show on the dashboard, only the ones that were due, and now they don't (see attached)? Now when you select view reminders they all show and not just the ones due.

Thank you,

John

Being able to show recurring transactions in your dashboard is our top priority, jbooze1.

I can see the importance to show the data for your business needs. You'll want to let our product team know how this will be a great advantage if implemented as a feature. You can go to our Customer Feedback page so you can send a request by clicking theGive feedback option. I've added this screenshot for your visual guide:

While the option isn't still available, QuickBooks provides different reports that provide your business information. Learn how to customize them, so you'll get the recurring information that you need most. I've got this article for more details: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Got any other concerns with recurring transactions? I'll just be one post away if you need help.

Hi Maria_SoledadG,

The reminders that were due used to show up in the dashboard, was it taken away? Is there a report that can be run on Reminders in Reoccurring Transactions?

Thank you,

Thanks for following up with the Community, jbooze1.

When creating recurring transactions, you can create a schedule to remind you to create them. These transactions won't be sent until you decide to create and send them.

Once you get your reminder, you'll be able to see it on the Dashboard, under Tasks. After finding a reminder you'd like to review, edit, or create, you can click its Action option to proceed.

Here's how to create recurring transactions that will show up as reminders on your Dashboard screen:

  1. Use the Gear (⚙️) icon.
  2. Go to Recurring Transactions.
  3. Click New.
  4. Choose a Transaction type.
  5. For its Type, pick Reminder.
  6. Enter a Template name.
  7. Specify any other necessary information.
  8. Select Save template.

You can also access your Reminders List from the Recurring transactions screen to see all of your active reminders:

I've also included a detailed resource about working with recurring transaction reminders which may come in handy moving forward: Create recurring transactions

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great day!

Hi ZackE,

I've been using Reoccurring Transactions for some time (see attached sample). The problem is that now when I go to the dashboard the link shows all of the reminders instead of only the ones that are due like I need it to.

Thanks,

Good morning, @jbooze1

Thanks for joining back in. Let's work together to get this fixed once and for all.

I'd like to be able to review your dashboard screen to be sure of the place you're referring to when you saw these reminders. We haven't received a picture on our end listed in your post, so could you provide us with another photo of where this used to be in your account?

This will help us determine what may have caused this to happen, or if the system updated and we removed that feature. I'll be waiting for your response!

Hi Candice C,

Please see attached screenshot. When you clicked on the link in the Tasks box it used to then show you the bills (reminders) that are due.

Candice, can I ask you another question, if can get this post through. Please see second attachment. I get this when I try to reply to posts and I have to clear browser cache, login/logout and change browsers sometimes. Have you ever seen this?

Thanks,

Show Bills Due

Hello there, @jbooze1. I want to provide some additional information about bills due reminders not showing up in the QuickBooks Online dashboard.

The screenshot doesn't appear to have been successfully linked to this post. I advise reuploading them so that we can determine where you previously see Dashboard reminders.

Furthermore, ensure the Recurring Transaction feature is used to properly set up the reminders. It's likely that it hit the End date and stopped showing. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open the Gear icon.
  2. Go to Lists, and choose Recurring Transactions.
  3. Click on the Reminder List button.
  4. Select the New button in the upper right-hand corner.
  5. Hit Bill as the type and hit OK.
  6. Fill in the Template name, choose Reminder as the Type, and type in the number of days before the transaction date.
  7. Select a Vendor (you can change this later when using the template to create the bill), and enter the Interval and the Start/End dates.
  8. Fill in the details of the bill, and hit Save template.

That's it! They'll be shown on the homepage's Task section (Dashboard). If you choose to create the transactions, you may do so by clicking the reminder and editing them as needed before sending them to suppliers or clients.

For more information about managing repeating transactions, see this: Create recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you're good, also read this module to learn more about how to track bills: Enter and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around if you need any more help with reminders, bills, or QuickBooks in general. Stay safe!

Hi Mich_S,

There are no end dates set on my reminders. I have noticed that the last couple of times I went to the dashboard, it is filtering the reminders now. I just need to make sure the they are actually the ones that are due. I am going to try and attached the examples again. Would you know why I usually get the authentication error when I try to post anything to the community?

Thank you,

I appreciate you chiming back in. Let me point you in the right direction to get this resolved.

Since none of the steps above have worked for you, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team for further assistance. They'll be able to use a screen share tool to review your account to see why this is happening. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Press the Contact Us button.
  3. Give a brief description of the issue and hit Let's talk
  4. Scroll down and pick to Get a callback

It's that easy!

Keep us updated on how it goes. It's my priority that you're able to get back to running your business. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Candace C,

It seems to be working now. I don't know how. I have been monitoring it for the last couple of days and I have only the bills there are actually due showing when I choose the link in the Task area.

Thank you,
