Simple report showing all my customers and the last invoice date.

I've got your back to help run a report to view all customers and the last invoice date in QuickBooks Onlije (QBO), @mahalo111.

In your QuickBooks Online account, we can generate a Sales by Customer Detail report. Then, we can customize this to display all customers and the most recent invoice by date.

  1. Go to the Reports menu on the left pane.
  2. Type in "Sales by Customer Detail" in the Search field.
  3. Click the Customize button on the upper right-hand.
  4. Filter the Report period.
  5. In the Filter section, make sure the Invoice is selected from the Transaction Type.
  6. Hit Run report.

I've added these articles about how to use the customization feature when running reports in QuickBooks:

If you want to save the current customization settings, memorize the report so you can easily access it without having to repeat your customized report.

I'm always looking forward to assisting you with running reports in QuickBooks Online. Just click the Reply button below if you have further questions. Keep safe!

Do I need to upgrade my subscription to do this. All I can find is "Sales by customer summary" which does not allow me to see the information that I need. I am using qb simple start. Thanks.

Welcome back, @mahalo111.

You don't need to upgrade your subscription to generate a report that shows all of your customers and the most recent invoices. I'm here to help you with it.

The Sales by Customer Detail report is only available in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials and Plus versions, not in the Simple Start version. Since the mentioned report isn't accessible in your current subscription, you can pull up the Invoice List report to get the data you need. Here's how:

  1. From the Reports page, search for Invoice Lists.
  2. Select the date you want to show from the Report period drop-down.
  3. Choose Day from the Group by drop-down.
  4. Click Run report.

From there, you'll be able to see all your invoices by date for each of your customers.

Just in case you want to know what reports are available in QBO Simple Start, you can check out this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Fill me in if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about running reports in QBO. I'll be around to provide further assistance.

Thank you Mark for providing a solution, it is not perfect but I think will work. Would be great if I could only see the last invoice date but with this solution I see all the invoices created for the year grouped by customer and not in chronoligical order. Thanks again, Cary

This is a helpful report, but I, like the original poster, would like to be able to isolate just the most recent invoice. Is there a way to set that filter? Thanks

Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, esarbee.

You can sort the order transactions display as on your Invoice List report after running it.

Here's how:

  1. Be sure to set a preferred date range.
  2. Click the Invoice date column title. Doing so will switch your report's display order to either ascending (↑) or descending (↓) order, depending on what it was already set as.
  3. If you want to see the most recent invoices for customers at the top of your report's transaction list, you can confirm it's set to descending (↓) order. Ascending order (↑) will display the most recent invoices on your report at the bottom of your list.

If you'd prefer to customize the report further, you can use your Export ▼ drop-down to export a copy of it which can be customized further outside of QuickBooks.

I've also included a detailed resource about exporting reports which may come in handy moving forward: Export your reports

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Friday!
