Join nowI am trying to find a report that can show me the splits on vendor transactions. We currently do not use Quickbooks for inventory, but use our part numbers when we prepare out invoices. I would like to run a report that shows the splits so that I can correct the parts going into inventory in Quickbooks. Also I am unsure how to prevent splits for inventory going forward.
Hi there, @Angie13. I'll gladly help you run a report that shows split entries in vendor transactions.
Before anything else, since you're not currently utilizing QuickBooks in managing inventory, would you like to share more details on how you set up the part numbers you use to prepare your invoices or bills? It's to ensure I can provide you with the best course of action when you're ready to use the program to manage your inventories.
In QuickBooks Desktop, you can generate a Transaction List by Vendor report to view all vendor transactions and the split ones if there are any. To access this report, you can follow these steps for your guidance:
On the other hand, split transactions occur when multiple accounts or items are affected in one transaction. For example, when you record a bill payment for a bill you received. The affected accounts will be the Accounts payable for the bill and the bank account you used to pay the bill. When you record an item receipt with multiple items and accounts, it could create a split transaction. With this, you don't have to worry about these split transactions affecting your inventory in the future. You can check out the image below:

That's all for now! Feel free to drop a comment if you have more questions or need further assistance. I'm here to help. Have a fantastic day!
We were using Quickbooks for inventory and our numbers were way off. We chose to go to a separate inventory program, but still use Quickbooks to generate our invoices. My goal is to be able to be able to make a general ledger entry to reflect the change to our inventory and what income was generated from our inventory sales.
I think I asked the question incorrectly. I would like to generate a report that reveals the accounts that split affected.
Hello there, Angie.
I'm here to assist you in generating a report that reveals the accounts that split affected. The steps my colleague has provided above show the Transaction List by Vendor report that displays the Split column and Accounts affected column.
You can also utilize the report to show more details and determine what accounts affect that specific transaction.
Here's how:
After customizing your reports in QuickBooks Desktop, you can also learn how to memorize them to access them easily in the future.
Please don't hesitate to leave a reply if you have further concerns besides running a report showing accounts that split affected. We're always here to support you.
