Statement of Financial Position

I'll share information about Retained Earnings that could help you.

In QuickBooks Online, the Retained Earnings are reflected at the closing of books. These are accumulated profits or losses of your business since its inception. The Retained Earnings figure on your Statement of Financial Position reflects the net cumulative result of all these factors over time. It's essentially a running total of your business's historical profitability and how much of that profit has been reinvested in the business rather than distributed to owners or shareholders.

@JamesAndrewM reply of "It's essentially a running total of your business's historical profitability and how much of that profit has been reinvested in the business rather than distributed to owners or shareholders." is not 100% accurate.  It may sound minor but retained earnings is the total through the end of your last fiscal year - not a running total.
