Thirteen 4 week accounting period for restaurants?

How does just running that report help with things out of sync? Especially payroll. Sometimes 3 pays appear in a month. So the date they are paid is not always accurate to the P&l

Thirteen 4 week accounting period for restaurants?

If you are running 13 four week periods, how do you set up budgets for 13 periods?

Thirteen 4 week accounting period for restaurants?

Hi there, @Kenflip61.

Budgeting in QuickBooks Online was designed to only create budgets for 12 months, quarterly, and monthly intervals.

For now, the option to create a budget by four weekly intervals for 13 periods is unavailable in QuickBooks.

I can see how this option would be helpful for you and your business. Therefore, let me take note of this as a suggestion to improve your QuickBooks experience.

Also, you can ask your accountant for further advice on how you can allocate your budget using the available intervals in QBO.

In addition, you can run some special budget reports that will help you in tracking your budgeting goals. Here's how to access them:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and click Budgeting.
  2. Find your budget on the list.
  3. Select the Action ▼ drop-down arrow and click Run Budget Overview report or Run Budgets vs. Actuals report.

If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to reach back out anytime. Have a great day and stay safe.

that does not really break it out into a 4 week period. my client wants a 4,4,5 P&L generated out of his QB.

Is that possible?

Thanks for following this thread, @angelneb.

Currently, we're unable to run a 4-4-5 P&L reporting in QuickBooks. Yes, you're correct that breaking it out into four weeks can only be achieved if this can be added in the future updates.

I recognize this type of reporting would help a lot when available. Please know that the Development Team is looking forward to ideas like this. For now, I encourage you to peek at our blog site to see news and updates such as product release and feature intensifications.

Additionally, you can bookmark this video article to learn more details on how to filter statements to specify financial views: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online. It includes a link on how to get more info on your customized report.

Thirteen 4 week accounting period for restaurants?

This article from the Quickbooks Online Team implies that Online Advanced has new calendars available for restaurants

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/whats-new/increase-your-restaurant-profits-by-tracking-fiscal-wee...

It doesn't talk to thirteen 4 week periods but can handle a 4 4 5 week setup which is pretty common in restaurants. It says," If you use QuickBooks® Online Advanced, you can change your fiscal year and post transactions with confidence. Using one of the calendars explained above is particularly useful in the food and beverage business."

The problem is I called Quickbooks to verify this, and they were not able to. Very Frustrating!!

Preach!!! I am constantly looking for this solution. I honestly feel like it would be a gamechanger for me. Have you found a solution yet. I'm tired of waiting around for quickbooks to understand this. It's been a feature request of mine for years now!
