Buy nowHello,
We run a cleaning business and would like to be able to track customer expenses in Quickbooks Desktop 2022 for supplies ordered. These will not be billed directly to the customer since they are baked into the service contract. I see that I can select the customer:job in the "write check" window and keep it unchecked as a billable expense. My problem is, when I run a income by customer statement, it includes these amounts as an offset to income, which I do not want. I want to be able to see revenue by customer and total revenue without the effects of the expenses. Otherwise, I makes things much more difficult for reports, taxes, auditing, ect. What can I do?
Hello there, @bhurley26.
I understand what your going through in the Reports menu. I've got some ways to modify reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Once the billable expense is enabled, billable items usually offset the total income in QuickBooks Desktop. However, we can export the report to excel. From there, you can modify details and amounts.
Here's how:
Then, you can start separating and adjusting the data after the exporting process in QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, we can track account balances by department, business office or location, distinct properties, or any other division of your company using class tracking. It thus lets you track segments you want to monitor in detail. Grab this article for more insights: Set up and use class tracking in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please get back to us if you continue to get the same results so I can look further into this. I'll be here to keep helping.
Hi Christine,
Thank you for your quick response. I was aware I could do that, I was just hoping for an "in Quickbooks" solution, especially because we have outside accountants who work in the file for year end tax activity and I didn't want to confuse them (they had issues with this in the past).
